The next morning I woke up in a bed that wasn't my own. Instantly knowing what that meant, I sat up and cursed under my breath. How could I have let myself lose control again?
I jumped out of the bed, refusing to look at the person I'd slept with, and I pulled on underwear, followed by my T-Shirt, skirt, jacket and boots. I felt so gross and just wanted to go home.
I tiptoed over to the door without even bothering to get a good look at my surroundings and I froze when my hand touched the doorknob. Someone yawned.
"Uhh...Jade?" A male voice made me curse again under my breath as I reluctantly turned around.
"I'm sorry," I said as I looked at the guy who was sitting up with a confused look on his face as he put his glasses on. A few memories from the previous night let themselves be remembered. The guy I'd slept with was that dude I bumped into when I was looking for Albert! "...Ryan."
"What for?"
"This...this wasn't supposed to happen, and I don't know how it did."
"It's okay." Ryan said with a laugh. "We all fuck up sometimes."
"Yeah..."
"Want me help you get home?" he said as he pulled on a shirt and some pants after stepping out of bed.
I contemplated his offer for a second before nodding delightedly. "That'd be great actually. Thanks, man." I was glad Ryan didn't seem to mind me admitting that us sleeping together was a mistake and that I wanted to leave so soon.
"My friends are probably freaking out." I said with a sigh as we walked down the street. "I was supposed to leave with one -- Albert."
"Albert? He's a cool dude."
"You know him?"
"Yeah, we talked last night. I think I met a few other of your friends too." Ryan explained, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "I've heard a couple of their demos and I'm impressed. I'll have to study them a little more first...but I'm thinking of signing them."
I froze with my mouth agape. "Signing them?"
"Yeah--"
"Oh, my god! You're the guy they've all been talking about!"
Ryan shrugged with a sheepish smile. "Am I?"
"You own a record label, right?"
He nodded and adjusted his glasses. "Wiz Kid Management. We're kinda new."
"I fucked my friends' potential manager..." I mumbled to myself in disbelief. "Please can you not tell any of them. I don't wanna know how they'd react."
"Hey, it's all good, honestly!" Ryan laughed. "I don't go telling people I barely know about my hookups anyways."
I sighed relievedly. "You're a cool dude, Ryan. I'd invite you to come hang at our place, but I don't need them seeing us arrive together and to start asking questions."
"Seriously, it's cool," he laughed again. "I get it."
"Thanks." I said as we stopped at the subway stairs.
"Well, here we are." Ryan pulled his hands out of his pockets and we shared a quick hug.
"It was nice meeting you, Ryan." I gave him a peck on the cheek.
