“Greyson..” We were standing in Grey’s living room, his dad was sitting on the couch, looking horrified.
“Achel did it!” Lydia smiled.
“Lisa...look at your son...” Scott motioned for his wife to look up, but she didn’t. She just kept her head down and read the book in her hands.
I bit my lip, trying to stop myself from crying again. Greyson pulled me away, and brought our faces close.
“She’ll get over it.” He whispered.
“How do you know?”
“Just trust me.”
“Its hard to take you seriously with that makeup on your face.” I giggled.
“Then get it off me,” He grumbled. “Please?”
“Nah, We’re going to go show Alexa first.” I smiled and quickly kissed him before pulling away.
“Noooooo,” He whined.
“Oh, hush up,” I smiled and pulled him to the other side of the house, before letting myself in to Alexa’s.
“OHHH ALEXA ....” I called.
“Yeah? Rachel?” She walked over to the door, then looked at her brother.
“Greyson. Pink is not your color.”
Greyson groaned and went to leave, but I grabbed his arm.
“Thats what Emma told him,” I winked and Alexa started laughing.
“I LIKE PINK.” Lydia smiled.
“I don’t.” Greyson rolled his eyes.
“Oh Greyson.” I sighed.
“What happened at the doctors today?” Alexa asked in a softer voice.
“I’ll go remove all this,” I pointed to Greyson’s face, “And tell you in a minute, ok?” I sighed.
“Sure sure, use my bathroom. You know where it is.” She nodded and turned her attention to Lydia.
“FINALLY!” Greyson threw his head back and put his hands in the air. “And no one even took my picture!!”
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.” The corner of my mouth twitched at my failed attempt to stop myself from smiling.
“What.” He looked at me.
“Oh, nothing. Now come on, I thought you wanted this off?”
“YES PLEASE.”
We walked into Alexa’s bathroom.
---
“So, you are keeping it?” Alexa started a few minutes later.
“Keeping what?” Lydia smiled.
“Nothing Lyddy, can you do me a favor? Go give this to your dad.” She wrote random words on a piece of paper. Just so we would have enough time to talk alone.
Lydia skipped out the door, closing it behind her.
“Yes. I’m keeping it.” I nodded.
“Although some of us may not want her too.” Greyson added quietly.
“Why don’t you want her too Greyson?”
“Doctor said because of the crash and whatever the chances of the baby making it aren’t good. The health of the baby,”
“And you.” Greyson interrupted.
“yeah, and me, could get...bad. But, honestly, I don’t care.”
“But I do Rachel! I’m not going to lose you!”
“Who said anything about losing me Greyson?”
He just rolled his eyes and sat back in his seat. Alexa watched us both.
“I’m not going anywhere.” I shook my head. “If this baby has a chance of living I am going to give it that chance. I’m going to be the mother my mom never got the chance to be with me. I’m going to be the mother I never had Greyson. But I need your help to do this..” My eyes started to water. “Are you with me, or not?” I put my hand on my belly.
“Of course I’m with you.” He got out of his chair and sat next to me, taking my hand in his. “I’m always going to be with you. I didn’t give you that ring for nothing. I’m not going anywhere either. Of course, I’m worried, but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to support you through everything.”
I smiled and kissed him. Forgetting where I was, forgetting what was happening. I just focused on me, and him. How I could feel him next to me, how his lips still tasted slightly like my lip gloss. That thought made me smile. Without breaking the kiss I sat on his lap, and put my arms around his neck.
Nothing else mattered. Because I had him. And thats all I’ve ever really wanted.
I pulled away, remembering what Natalie had told me that one day in the hospital.
‘Sometimes, things happen, and theres a reason. I believe this will make you and Greyson stronger, when he wakes up, nothing will be able to separate you again’
