Maddie's POV
I hastily run towards the elvator that's about to close. I stuck my hand to stop it and winced in pain.
At least my work paif off, it opened.
I was surprised to see the only person inside it, who's like at me with amusement and surprise.
Mine doesn't vary so much from hers, I'm surprised as much as she is to see her here.
It's Pauline, my Pauline.
She's looking at me while I try to catch my breath, the bags of groceries occupying both of my hands.
"Are you following me?" Her tone is accusing.
"What? No!" I said defensively and she laughed, "What are you doing here?" I asked.
I inched closer to her.
"I told you I'm paying Amy a visit right?"
"She lives here?"
"Yes. How about you, you said you'll help ate Mae?" She then glance at my belongings "Don't tell me she lives here too?"
"Yeah. 6th floor."
"That's where I'm going."
"Odd." I uttered and she nodded.
"Will stay here for the night?"
"Yeah, maybe. How about you?"
"No, I'll go home after dinner."
"Are you bringing your car?"
"No. I'll ride a taxi nalang, malapit lang naman. I don't want to bother manong pa." I stared seriously at her not liking her answer.
"No. Take a ride with me. Uuwi nalang ako." My voice is authoritive.
"But-" I cut her off.
"No buts. Just text me when you're ready to go." I said in a dismissive tone, she got it and nodded.
We stayed silent until the elevator dinged, that's our cue to go out. The door opened and I let her go first, and I followed suit.
Our footsteps are heard as our shoes make contact with the floor.
I stopped in front of my cousin's door and Pauline stopped on the door beside it. I pushed the doorbell and she did the same.
We gave each other a look.
"Hindi kaya?..."
Both doors opened at the same time. Confirming Pauline and I's suspicion.
"Maddie?"/"Ponggay?"
But instead of my cousin calling my name and ate Amy calling Pauline's it's the opposite.
The two of them are looking at us in confusion, wondering why we showed up together at the same time.
"You know her?!" They both exclaimed.
The sight before me is too funny that I'm having a hard time surpressing my laughter.
Pauline and I nodded.
"Paano mo nakilala 'tong bakulaw na 'to?" Her eyebrows are creased and her hands are on her hips, making her look like our Nana when she's mad.
"Wow! Will stop calling me that? Alyssa told me that it's an insult." Ate Amy butted in.
And that started their banter. I stayed quiet and watch them together with Pauline who has the same expression as me.
