Maddie's POV

I lie in my bed, using my hand to cover my eyes. I woke up with a pounding headache.

The thick blanket still not enough to warm my shivering body. I'm too weak to turn off the aircon, I also don't know where I left the remote last night.

"Maddie?" Manang called, peaking from the door. "Nandito si Ponggay."

Soon enough I saw her entering my room holding a tray of breakfast, the sight of manang shaking her head before leaving made me chuckle.

I told her not to let anyone so that I could rest and I don't want anyone to see me looking like this. But knowing Pauline and her ways to get what she want, Manang must have had a hard time.

"Way to start that vacation." She teased before putting down the tray.

I groaned. "I feel all the love and care, thank you very much."

She laughed making me roll my eyes.

"Idiot."

"Seriously? No 'How are you?', 'Are you okay?' Nothing?" I asked feigning hurt.

"Fine, fine." She's shaking her head in amusement.

"How's my favorite monkey?" She cooed, I want to swat her hand away but I failed to do so. My pout is still visible as I glare at her.

"What? That's still not okay?"

I shook my head before pulling the blanket up to my face, her muffled laughter warmed my heart.

Pauline tugged on the blanket and even if I feel weak I still held on to the mattress tightly.

I showed half of my face, using the blanket to cover my mouth. She stared at me with amusement in her eyes, her teeth showing as she grin at me.

"Such a kid." She rolled her eyes before leaning forward to give me a kiss on my forehead.

And with that, my covered lips split into a wide smile. Her act sent tingles down my spine. It's not everyday that the two of us are like this.

"I can't see your lips but I can tell that you're smiling. Nakalimutan mo na ba na your eyes smile as well?"

"Nope. And hindi ko rin nakakalimutan na it makes you feel kilig whenever you see me smile."

"Napakayabang. I should've known better than to tell you that."

"Kahit hindi mo sabihin, I know naman."

"Whatever." Pauline rolled her eyes before helping to sit properly.

"See? Nag papa-cute ka pa. Diba I told you na hindi na kailangan?" I grinned.

"Haay nako, where did you get the idea that I'm making pa-cute to you whenever I roll my eyes?"

"Basta lang." She then fed me a spoonful of soup.

I cringed and almost spat it out if it weren't for the scowling girl in front of me.

"I know you don't like the way it tastes but you should eat."

I am forced to open my mouth and take the food.

"Pauline, it tastes nasty." I whined.

"Don't say that. Pinaghirapan 'to ni manang tapos ganyan sasabihin mo?" She said sternly.

"I really appreciate the effort naman eh kaya lang ganyan talaga ang lasa. I'll eat the toast nalang?" I reasoned out.

"No. Bakit ba kasi napaka sakitin mo? Naligo rin naman ako sa ulan ah."
