Maddie's POV
"Pauline, stop. Ayoko na." My eyebrows are creased as I stared at her seriously.
"What? Sabi mo okay lang?" She took a step forward and I took a step back. Confusion is all over her face.
"Yeah. Pero ayoko na. Please."
"Maddie."
"I'm serious, Pauline. Stop it."
"You're so unfair for doing this." She seem angry, maybe she is.
"Pau, naman. Sabi mo isang picture lang eh!" I whined, hiding my face using a pillow.
"Ang arte mo! Picture lang 'to, para namang ang hirap gawin eh you're just going to smile lang naman!" She retorted. Her annoyed expression matching mine.
"That's the case. Eh gusto mo may wacky and whatsoever pa eh nakakahiya kaya!"
"No one's going to see it naman other than me eh. I can count our pictures together using my fingers!"
"Deanna always use your phone kaya! Knowing her, she'll use those against me."
"You know what? Fine! You have so many reasons pa, ayaw mo lang naman talaga." Her arms are crossed, as she stands getting ready to leave.
"Aish! Fine, fine. Let's take many pictures as you want. Just promise me you won't show them to anyone." I grumbled and pulled her to sit beside me again.
"Yay! I promise!" She cheered.
She grabbed the pillow away from me for me to stop using it as a cover. Pauline positioned the camera to have a better angle of the two of us. I let her take as many pictures as she want, her pose changes from time to time and all I'm do is stare at the camera, more of like scowl.
It's December 24, the time is 7:30 PM. Others are already at Ate Gretch and ate Fille's house, having a movie marathon, a yearly thing we do. When it's exactly 10 minutes away from Christmas we'll run from the house where it is held to the Valdez's to have our Noche Buena.
"Maddie! Your smile looks forced." She scolded, pushing my head away from her shoulder.
"Pau, we already took a lot of pictures."
"Yeah, and you look like a grumpy cat."
I sat properly and inched closer to her, what she did next made my eyes widen a little and shy smile formed on my lips. She snapped a picture of us while she's kissing my cheek.
"Why am I not surprised?" She rolled her eyes.
Pauline smiled when she saw me smile. And she didn't have a hard time on convincing me to do different pose. I didn't know taking pictures will be this special for me.
When we received a text from my best friends and hers we know it's our cue to follow the others or our excuse will soon give it away.
The cool breeze hit our skin as we walk beside each other, there's no hand holding and bumping shoulders, but being alone with her feels like we're close enough.
Pauline and I doesn't always need physical contact to show affection. Being together is enough.
"Did ate Mae text you?"
"No. Why?"
"Amy's not texting kasi if they arrived na."
I rolled my eyes. What? I still can't help it.
"Ouch!"
She elbowed me on my side.
"I saw that you know."
