Maddie's POV
"Oh, bakit parang nalugi ka?" That's the first thing Jirah said who's playing some chords with her guitar when I sat on the bean bag in front of them.
Bea is typing something on her phone but still laughed at Ji's statement.
"Therese just admitted she still likes me." I let out an exasperated sigh, that caught their attention. Bea stopped typing and Jirah stopped playing, both their fingers hanging.
"Where is she?" Bea asked, she's looking at me worriedly.
"She fell asleep while crying. I carried her to her bed."
"Carried?"
"Yeah, we were in front of the Tan's house."
"What?!" Jirah exclaimed.
"How did that happen?" Bea asked a little less dramatic than Jirah.
"We were walking, just having a normal talk and I don't know how it lead to that conversation." I buried my face on the palm of my hands, heaving a sigh.
"What did you tell her?"
"I said that I'm sorry." Despite my muffled voice you can hint the frustration and guilt.
"I didn't expect her to tell me that, you know? That's why I was caught off guard."
"Anong plano mo?"
"Hindi ko rin alam."
"Don't tell me you'll give up this easily?" Bea sat up straight at locked her eyes with mine.
"No! Of course not. I'm just, ugh! I don't know anymore." I ran my hand through my hair.
"It will be alright, Madds." They patted my shoulder.
"Thanks, guys."
The ruffled my hair and I smiled at them.
"So, Ji, what's your plan?" I changed the topic. We're here because of our best friend's 'proposal' after all.
"Remember that pop-up book she love so much?" She asks us, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"Uh, yeah?" Bea said with uncertainity, not also getting her point, just like me.
"I'm planning on making her that, but with our own story. Then at the end the magic question will appear." Jirah has this dreamy face with her huge smile on.
"Do you know how to do it?" I asked.
"No." She deadpanned and we gave her a 'wtf' look "Kaya nga kayo nandito diba?" She grinned.
Bea and I smacked her in the head.
"Aray! Bakit ba?" Her face is crumpled.
"Saamin ka pa talaga humingi ng tulong?"
"Nakakalimutan mo yata na sina Tey lang ang gumagawa ng project natin noong high school?" I said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Tss! Sabihin niyo ayaw niyo lang akong tulungan." She feigned hurt.
"Ji, naman. Kung gusto mong hiwalayan ka ni Jia bago pa man maging kayo, sige, tara gawin natin yang story book mo." Natatawang saad ni Bea.
And that made me laugh including Jirah, and two more voices joined us. Gizelle and Marge are walking towards us.
"Why didn't you call us ba?" Gizelle asked, she sat next to me.
"Tapos aasarin niyo lang ako eh." Jirah whined.
"Eh yang dalawang yan ba hindi?" Marge retorted.
"Bahala nga kayong apat!"
"Asus! Mukha kang sira." I teased and she glared at me.
