I stayed glued to that spot. My mind was screaming for me to move, run to Grayson, anything... I was frozen.
"What the fuck!" Ray spat blood as he yelled angrily, struggling to get up. I suddenly couldn't breathe. I gasped for air and couldn't find it. Where was Grayson? Did he see that whole charade?
I looked at ray angrily.
"I backed away from you!" I yelled at him and he stared at me in disbelief.
"You kissed me back! It's not like you really tried to fight me off. You know I'm right about them. But you've caught feelings for your little master there huh?" He shouted at me and got on his feet.
The door to the ballroom flew open and Cecelia came rushing out, the anger on her face was obvious.
"Ray" she snarled at him and he held his ground.
"I'm tired of being a blood slave!" He screamed at her and her eyes widened.
"Don't raise your voice to me you spineless mortal" she growled back and he clenched his fists.
"I'm done" he continued screaming and she laughed.
"You can't do anything about this! It's how it works! I thought I'd picked a better human than one that would try and trick a beautiful girl into running off. You both would've been found and killed." She turned her attention to me and smirked.
"And you" she pointed at me
"You better run off to Grayson." I nodded slowly and turned, going in the direction he had left.
I tried reaching out to him through the mindlink but I was blocked out. I began panicking again.
"Grayson" I shouted down the empty hallway knowing he would hear me wherever he was. Tears built up in my eyes and I got a sick feeling.
"Grayson please" I called again and got no response.
I turned around so fast I almost gave myself whiplash when I heard a door open.
"All alone little mouse?" That bald man from the beginning of the night stepped out into the hallway, his eyes were piercing red. I glared at him and turned back around heading down the hallway.
I was suddenly stopped when a cold hand grabbed my arm.
"Has your master never taught you not to turn your back to a vampire?" He muttered into my ear and I froze.
My jaw clenched and I looked back at him.
"Take your hand off of me" I tried to speak with courage but my voice wavered. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Excuse me?" His eyes were threatening and I pulled out of his grasp.
"I said take your hand off of me" I whispered back and his laugh boomed through the hallways.
"That was cute little mouse. Thinking you can stand up to the big mean cat around here" he wore a sinister smile now and I began backing up.
"I suggest leaving her alone or you might have bigger issues" a voice came from behind him and Xavier stood there angrily, his arms crossed and fists clenched.
The man immediately backed away from me, slightly bowing.
"I'm sorry prince Xavier. Just trying to have s little fun" he said jokingly and Xavier raised an eyebrow.
"You better get out of here Jeffrey before this little mouse calls the big bad wolf to kill you...unless I decide to do it first" he ended his threat with a snarl and Jeffrey ran back off into the Ballroom. I looked at Xavier happily.
"Thank you" I muttered and he nodded.
"They're not all good Elizabeth. You have to be careful. Where is Grayson?" He began walking with me and I stared at the ground fiddling with my hands.
"I don't know. Cecelia's boy, ray, he was trying to convince me to run away with him and he kissed me and I let him" I whispered and the tears came back to my eyes.
