I shifted uncomfortably as tyler put his arm around my waist. He then kissed my cheek and I forced a smile. After that kiss with Grayson earlier, I was certain I didn't want anyone else.
"Liz?" tyler sounded concerned and I snapped to my senses.
"I'm sorry what are you saying?" I gave him an apologetic look as he scanned my face, trying to read my emotion.
"You're distant. What's wrong" he frowned and leaned forward, cupping my face lovingly.
'Act normal around tyler' Graysons warning came back into my mind and I smiled at tyler. "I'm ok, just tired is all."
Haley walked into the living room and Tyler glared at her "why are you here" he growled warningly and she tilted her head, her stare held on me. It was unnerving.
Tyler let out another growl and she slowly looked at him. She bowed her head "I wanted to talk to Liz. Ask her for some advice" she looked up, and tyler looked at me. I nodded quickly. Anything to get away from tyler. I stood up quickly and followed her outback. She led me to the woods and stopped at the edge, she leaned up against a tree casually.
"So I need some advice of help or whatever" she sounded agitated. I nodded
"What is it?" this was strange, seeing as how I hardly even knew her. I never even officially got acquainted with her. I only knew that she was once a human, and Grayson turned her because he couldn't stand to kill her.
"I see how you and tyler are. You aren't truly happy with him are you?" I shifted uncomfortably. Was it that easy to tell? Would it be that easy for Tyler to tell?...
"Look I only noticed because that look you had on your face when you're with Grayson is completely opposite Of that when you're with tyler." She rushed out her words and I sighed.
"You're right " I muttered
She smiled suddenly, hope crossing her face. Once I came to the realization, I looked at her excitedly
"You like tyler!?"
She could be the key to getting me off of his mind! she nodded slowly, her cheeks turning red a bit.
"I always thought you would have a thing for Grayson" I muttered and she shook her head.
"Grayson is special to me. He always will be... But I know I'm not right for him"
I nodded.
"Let's get to it" I winked at her
"Oh, this is perfect" I smiled at her reassuringly and we dove into our master plan.
Grayson's point of view
Jason walked happily next to Veronica as we made our way down the boardwalk. They were laughing about some joke, I wasn't sure. I tuned them out long ago when they went all 'mate'
On me.
It was frustrating. You would think as vampires we wouldn't be capable of acting as if we were 'in love' but the whole 'mate thing' has the same effect on us as it does for werewolves.
We were standing at the edge of the pier, Veronica went to get a snack or something.
"dude what's with you" Jason's voice cut into my thoughts and I looked at him slowly.
"What" my senses were slowing coming back.
He glared at me "you've been so dull all night. We finally get you out of that bed and you've barely said a word."
He looked down at the water and sighed.
"Man you need to get over lily." He mumbled and I almost cringed at her name.
Lily.
My mate.
The girl that rejected me.
The girl that's now married.
"I know the mate stuff gets you all cold and stuff but come on think about eliza-"
"No" I cut him off harshly and glared. He sighed.
Veronica showed back up and I shifted my gaze back to the water as they were engulfed in their own conversation once again.
It didn't take long before we all went separate ways. Jason and Veronica went back to the house and I decided to keep wandering.
I walked for awhile, catching so many different human scents it was driving me crazy. I wonder if Elizabeth will continue letting me feed off of her..
The single thought of Elizabeth made me feel weird. Jason believed she could be my mate but I wasn't sure.... lily was my mate. But lily had rejected me...
It was all so frustrating.
I sighed and pulled out my vibrating phone, a incoming call from Tyler. Oh joy.
I answered hesitantly, sounding more annoyed than I expected.
"Yes tyler?"
"Grayson! you have a visitor! you should really come back soon. Defiantly don't want to keep this one waiting"
He sounded too happy. Something was up.
"Who is it?" I turned and began walking back towards the direction of the house.
He chuckled deeply
"Oh, you'll see"
Elizabeth's point of view
I stared in awe at the girl that was sitting impatiently on the couch across from me. She stared out the window, avoiding eye contact at me.
I don't blame her, her I was, just a simple not so attractive human but She was absolutely gorgeous. Her hair was long and a auburn brown, her eyes were a golden yellow. She was petite, wearing black tights with a purple Lacey skirt, a black shirt that complimented it all. Everything about her seemed graceful. Just being near her was enough to drop my self esteem points by.... a lot.
Tyler walked back into the room, a huge smile plastered on his face. The girl, lily, looked up at him.
"Well?" she questioned him, sounding a bit on edge.
He patted her shoulder gently
"He's on his way. He's going to be so excited" at his words she smiled at him but I could tell it was faked.
"Thank you Tyler. I have much to discuss with Grayson." He nodded and sat back next to me, putting his arm around my shoulder. Her body language changed immediately from bored to interested, as her eyes widened and she eyed us.
"Tyler I thought- and please excuse me, if I'm wrong- I thought this girl was here for um.." She trailed off and Tyler glared.
"She is not for feeding" his sentence was ended with a defensive snarl.
She nodded slowly, giving a polite smile.
"As I said, excuse me if I'm wrong. It was simply an assumption I thou-" she slowly stopped talking when tyler cut her off.
"Elizabeth are you thirsty? hungry maybe? I can get you a drink" he spoke hurriedly and I shrugged
"I can get it myself" I muttered and stood up. I was halfway to the kitchen when the door opened and Jason walked in with Veronica. I smiled at them and Jason suddenly looked confused, staring at the back of Lily's head. I ignored the strange look but then he whispered "go outside" so I didn't question him. I nodded calling a quick
"I'm going outside for fresh air" to tyler, who nodded.
I stepped out into the chilly air and almost screamed when a pair of strong arms wrapped around me.
I gasped in surprise when I felt Grayson breath into my ear
"I missed you"
He suddenly pulled back and stared at me like he was shocked he said that.
My cheeks turned red immediately.
He smiled at me and sighed
"I'm sorry I just-"
"Don't be sorry" I cut him off and he nodded. His hair was shifting slightly in the breeze.
"There's this girl inside for you...." I trailed off but my words didn't seem to phase him whatsoever.
"It's strange.." he started slowly
"I don't care who is inside waiting for me for once" he muttered and stepped forward, grabbing my face gently.
He stared deep into my eyes and when he spoke I noticed his canines again...they're so cute when he doesn't have them extended all the way... like little puppy fangs.
"You're warm again" I whispered and he froze, we just stood there silently, him holding onto my head as if he was going to kiss me I slowly reached up and held his wrist.
"W-what do you mean" he sounded so unsure.
I let out a deep breath, the cold made it come out as a foggy steam and he smiled when it hit his face.
"Whenever I touch other vampires.. they're all so cold...But you...you're always warm. They are all like touching ice. But not you... not anymore" I whispered and he laughed quietly.
"It's funny because when I'm around you I don't have the urge to rip you to shreds like the other humans"
I laughed and he smiled at me, looking down.
The door suddenly opened and Grayson was away from me before anyone could see. His speed was incredible, I didn't even see him move. He had grabbed the handle and was acting as if he had gone to open it as the person on the other side did.
"Sorry about that" he mumbled and tyler stepped out, nodding.
"That's quite alright" he muttered back, lighting up when he saw me.
"Come back inside, won't you dear?" Grayson held the door open and I went through first, waiting for Tyler.
"Grayson I'm so surprised you didn't get here sooner" he spoke as he walked towards the couches, where Jason, Veronica, and lily were seated. Tyler had ordered the other vampires away.
I went to Tyler's side and looked back at Grayson, the look on his face scared me.
Lily stood up and turned, I watched as their eyes met.
Grayson looked dead, just as when I first saw him after the accident. There was no emotion on his face as lily smiled brightly at him, rushing forward she wrapped her arms tightly around him and he stared in shock, slowly lifting his arms and hugging her back.
He stared blankly at the wall as they hugged until his eyes slowly moved and met mine.
Who was she... and how did she and Grayson know each other?...
I didn't know. But I was certain I didn't like her.
