I smiled at my ring, glinting in the sunlight. I tilted my hand back and forth, mesmerized by it.

Grayson proposed a week ago, and they were throwing us an engagement party. Everything was going so well..life felt normal. aside from the whole supernatural beings part.

So many people filled the castle, Grayson was becoming known for all the work he did with Xavier. It was weird watching how people started bowing their heads to him as well and he always told me how he hated that, even though it was just a sign of respect. People were even beginning to bow their heads to me, which I loved the attention for the most part.

Everyone we met had no idea about my human past. It was like my life started over. I loved that feeling. I walked over to Grayson, he was standing at a table full of pastries, looking zoned out.

"Hello? Earth to Grayson?" I waved my hand in front of his face and he snapped back, looking at me.

"Oh I'm sorry" he muttered, blinking a few times.

"What's going on with you lately?" I looked at him with concern and he smiled lightly, kissing my cheek.

"I'm okay, I'm just feeling kind of drained." He squeezed my hand reassuringly.

"When's the last time YOU fed? Everyone has been so preoccupied making sure I'm okay. What about you?" I frowned and he pinched my chin playfully.

"I'm fine I'm fine." We were interrupted by a couple saying goodbye, the party was coming to an end. Thank god. I was tired of socializing and repeating the same things.

Once everyone cleared out the workers came to clean up, Grayson nodded towards the main living room.

"I have a surprise for you." He grabbed my hand and pulled me down the hallway, Towards his own office.

"What else could you possibly give me, Grayson?" I didn't believe there was anything greater than what he already has given me.

He reached into a desk drawer and pulled out a cell phone, handing it to me. I laughed lightly, taking it.

"A cell phone? I live with you and my best friend is rooms away. Who could I need to call?" I jumped slightly when it was receiving an incoming call. He shrugged, smiling mischievously.

"Guess you should answer and find out huh?" He pecked my cheek and left the room. I hesitantly answered, gasping when I heard my mom on the other end.

"Elizabeth!" I could tell she was choking up.

"Mom it's so good to hear your voice" I whispered, happy tears gathering in my eyes.

"You're on speaker, Erica is here too" she sounded so happy.

"Hey Elizabeth" I could tell by Erica's tone she was weary? I didn't know why.

We talked for almost an hour about everything we'd each missed. Erica had awakened her werewolf gene, and even found her mate. A guy named Brantley, she sounded changed. So changed. She wasn't the same materialistic narcissist. She was apologetic, and so much more thoughtful. She said she changed for the better for her mate, and it showed.

I said goodbye to my mom, she promised they would be visiting soon and would be there for the wedding. They just had to find a way to travel without Tyler's eyes watching.

"Elizabeth" Erica spoke quietly before I hung up, I held my breath.

"I wanted you to tell Grayson something for me." She spoke seriously and I nodded to myself.

"Of course, what is it?" I tapped my leg nervously.

"Tell him thank you, please. Tell him I said thank you for taking care of you when I failed to. I'm your big sister and I failed you so many times. And tell him thank you for.. well... what he did. You know.. mom has been so much happier. She said she has felt lighter ever since..she said she feels free finally" she was choking up and now I was again.
