I am thankful for my readers so for a treat I'm posting two chapters tonight. - Blaire
I woke up at 5 and got dressed. I put on my leggings and my Nike half-zip. I put Duke's vest on him and then put on my white converse. I grabbed my suitcase and my backpack. Brad picked us up and drove us to the airport. I said goodbye and led Duke in. I checked my suitcase in and then Duke and I went through security. We boarded our plane and went to Atlanta. We landed at gate A14 and had 20 minutes to get to gate E46. I led Duke on to the train and we rode to concourse E. Once the doors opened we jogged to the gate and made it just in time for the final boarding call. We landed an hour and half later and headed to baggage claim. I grabbed my bag and then looked around for Anson but he found me first.
Anson: Savannah Solo, I'm Anson Dorrance it's a pleasure to meet you.
Me: it is a pleasure to meet you as well sir.
Anson: please call me Anson
Me: alright, well Anson this is Duke.
Anson: not the best name but he's cute so it's okay. How old is he?
Me: 10 months today.
Anson: he's not even fully grown? He's going to be huge.
Me: yeah I know.
Anson: well lets head out I'll grab your bag.
Me: okay thanks.
Anson grabbed my suitcase and we went to his car. Anson put my bag in the trunk while I put Duke in the back seat. I got in and then Anson drove us to the campus.
Anson: So this is Ehringuhaus hall. We have it set that most of the staff is on 5 while there are also a couple on each floor. We have 5 current UNC players, 6 current Wofford players and about 15 coaches from all different places.
Wendy will get you all settled in. Dinner is at 7:30 at Tom's and the girls will get you there. We will have a meeting tomorrow at 9 so we can go through everything and divide teams. Well there is Wendy, I will see you later.
Me: Aright thank you Anson.
I got my suitcase and followed Wendy into the office they made in the lounge.
Wendy: Well to begin you are in room 512. The 3 other counselors are in the suite are Lindsey, Katie, and Hannah. Now here is all of the shirts and shorts to wear for camp along with the schedule on when to wear them. Tomorrow we will determine the demo staff and also go further into what we will be doing.
Me: okay and are the girls current players for UNC?
Wendy: Lindsey and Hannah are and Katie is Wofford. Here is your key and you can head up the girls should be there.
Me: alright thank you
I lead Duke to the elevator and went to the 5th floor. I found my suit and walked in. I unlocked my door and went into my room. I put my stuff down and walked out to go to the bathroom. As I did I ran into another girl.
Lindsey: oh I'm sorry
Me: oh it's okay. I'm Savannah..
Lindsey: Solo, sorry that was creepy. I'm Lindsey Harris goal keeper. I've watched you play with the national team, you're amazing.
Me: thank you
Lindsey: oh shit!
Me: oh sorry that's Duke. He's a giant teddy bear.
Lindsey: awe he's so cute. Oh you were headed to the bathroom weren't you? My bad go ahead.
Me: thanks, would you watch him real quick.
Lindsey: yeah totally
I went to the bathroom and then Lindsey and Duke followed me to my room. Lindsey and I got to know each other and I made my bed and unpacked a little. Around 4 Hannah and Katie came in. We all sat in my room and talked for a while.
Hannah: well I need to shower before we go to dinner so I'm going to do that and then we can go.
After Hannah showered we went to her car and she drove us to Tom's house. As I walked in I got a lot of surprised looks from the staff and players. All of us met and got our food. As we ate we watched Argentina play Bolivia. The game ended around 10 and we went back to our dorm. I showered and then fed Duke. I called Hope and then fell asleep.
