I woke up at 7:30 and fed Duke. I changed into the gear and put my tennis shoes on. I put my cleats and team binder into my backpack. Lindsey, Katie, Hannah and I walked to the Rams dining hall for breakfast. We came back to the dorm and helped set up all of the tables. We finished and the girls started checking in.
The girls turned in forms, payed the deposit, and then got their keys. They came to the last table to get a bag with two shirts in it and if they paid for a camp ball. The girls told me their names and I highlighted and then told Mya what size. A couple girls didn't know who I was but most were wide-eyed and nervous as they came up. We finished at 2:15 and then the girls came out and sat in front of the steps. Dino got the microphone and stood on the steps.
Dino: Welcome girls. We are excited to kick off the camp but first let's introduce some of our staff. We have 6 girls from Wofford and they are Katie, Hannah, Emily, Bri, Laura, and Emma. We also have 5 current UNC players that were able to join us. This is Lindsey, Hannah, Jo, AK and Mya.
Now we have an extra special staff member with us, 17- year old Savannah Solo the national phenomenon that we call Baby Horse. Now I hope you know what team you're on. We have a couple minutes to group up before we walk down to the field.
We all called out our team and grouped up. Once Jo and I took roll of our team, USA, we walked down to the field and talked to the players and asked what positions they played. We split them up to play small sided games. We were supposed to pick one out so they could play in the exhibition match after the cookout tonight.
We finished at 4:45 and walked back down to the buses. We went to Finley fields and we all got our food. Jo and I talked about which player we were picking and we decided on Kennedy and told her to put her cleats on when we did. Once everybody was ready the staff took the field against the campers. Anson blew the whistle and I sent it back.
We played for about an hour and the staff won 2-0. Hannah score on a corner and I scored on a through ball. We took our cleats off and Dino told the teams where everyone was going. USA was playing Seattle on the turf field so we loaded back onto the bus. We got off and then girls put their stuff on.
Jo and John did the lineup. They kicked off and the teams played. In the first half we were losing by 1. We switched players around and sent them back out. Kennedy scored twice to let us win 2-1. We all walked back to the dorm and sat down for the 9 o'clock meeting.
We didn't have to stay so I brought Duke back up to my room and I showered while he ate. I came back down as the meeting ended. I helped Lindsey pass out pizzas and by the time we finished it was almost 11. We cleaned up and went to our rooms. The girls showered and then we all went to bed around 12.
