Hope and I woke up at 8 and got dressed. We headed down to breakfast and sat down.
Hope: have you thought about school?
Me: no
Hope: you're going to get behind
Me: I really don't care
Hope: Savannah it's your last year
Me: exactly I only have 3 classes, I mean they aren't going to fail me
Hope: they could
Me: well I didn't ask you
I got up and went to the room.
Ash: damn that was cold
Kelley: I think you just got frost bite
Hope: Medusa has arrived.
I changed into Nike pros and sports bras. I went to the empty lounge and cleared the area. I danced for a couple hours until Alex came in.
Alex: hey Baby Horse
Me: hey Al
Alex: you tied with Simone
Me: so?
Alex: so you get to carry the flag with her
Me: wait really?
Alex: yup, so you need to get ready at 3. Be there by 5 and ceremony starts at 6.
Me: alright thank you
Alex: well come on we its lunch time and here's a shirt.
Me: thanks
Alex and I went down and ate. We all talked about the ceremony until we finished eating. Alex, Ali, Allie, and Ashlyn helped me get ready. Al(l)i(e)s did my hair, Alex did my make up, and Ashlyn found my ceremony outfit. I left early while the girls stayed to get ready themselves. Simone and I met up in the dressing room at 4:45.
Simone: I love your hair, it's like perfectly curled.
Me: thank you, I wish I could pull off your sparkly eyeshadow
Simone: thanks
Lady: alright I need you two to put on your outfits and then we are going to make adjustments.
Simone and I changed and then groups of people swarmed around and fixed things. They hemmed my shorts smaller around my thighs and had to make another hole in my belt so my shorts would stay up. They pinned our sleeves up and by the time we finished it was 5:40. Simone had a red button up and I had a navy one. We both had striped shirts, white shorts, and a belt that matched our shorts.
At 6 the ceremony began. Simone and I walked out at 6:24. The crowd was huge and most of the athletes were there along with thousands of fans. All the countries had walked out and the flame was extinguished and then flag for Tokyo 2020 was risen. I got back to the tower at 11 and the gals were waiting for me. They congratulated me and then we went to our rooms. I showered and then got ready for bed. I shut off the lights and climbed in with Hope.
Hope: did you have fun?
Me: yeah that was amazing but I am exhausted oh my lord
Hope: well get some sleep, we have a long day tomorrow
Me: goodnight Hopey
Hope: goodnight Baby Horse
MONDAY
Hope: Baby Horse come on
Me: nooo
Hope: it's 8:30 breakfast ends at 9.
Me: mmm
Hope: I'm not going to ask again.
I got up and followed Hope to breakfast. We ate and then Jill called us into the lounge.
Jill: alright ladies pack up and we load the bus at 10:30. The plane leaves at 10:30. We stop in New York and then you go to wherever you're headed.
We all got up and went to our rooms to pack.
Hope: are you going home?
Me: no I am going to the VMA's with the final five
Hope: when did you decide that?
Me: last night
Hope: what about school?
Me: it can wait another 5 days or so
Hope: when do you plan on returning?
Me: probably Wednesday or Thursday
Hope: does your dad know this?
Me: he's in Afghanistan what can he do?
Hope: alright then
Hope and I finished packing and then loaded onto the bus. At the airport we were mobbed by the media and fans. We were escorted through and finally boarded. Hope shared her seat with me again and I slept the whole way. The plane landed in New York at 10:50. Most of the girls said bye and the rushed to their flights. Hope and I walked Kelley to her gate.
Hope: bye Squirrel
Kell: bye Hopey
Me: bye Squirrel I'll miss you
Kell: bye Baby Horse I'll miss you more
Me: not possible
Kell: yes possible
We hugged and then Hope had to go to her gate.
Hope: alright remind me again
Me: the final five land at 11:30 and I'll meet them at their gate and then we are going to the hotel.
Hope: alright, now be on your best behavior and please keep Medusa in check at least for the next week
Me: I'll try
Hope: thank you, bye Savannah I love you
Me: bye Hope I love you too
Hope boarded and I went to gate E72. 20 minutes later I saw Aly, Simone, Maddie, and Laurie.
Me: where's Gabby?
Aly: she had something personal come up and had to go home
Me: oh
Maddie: yeah well let's get our bags and go to the hotel
Simone: yes
The girls got their bags and then our driver took us to the hotel. we checked in and got our rooms. I was with Aly and Laurie and we crashed immediately.
