Hope woke me up at 7:30 and we headed to the dining hall. We ate and then talked for a while. Kelley want to go for a walk so she dragged me. We ended getting lost but finally made I back at lunch time. Once I finished eating Tobin and I went to play with soccer tennis. We came back in at 2:30 and went to our rooms.
Hope: Baby Horse your phone rang like 10 times
Me: oh sorry, that was Brad and Megan
Brad: hey Baby
Me: hey babe you called?
Brad: yeah, Bernard is being an ass and told me to tell you that you have to send your essay in today or it won't count.
Me: shocker, anything else?
Brad: not for school, but call Megan she has some news for you
Me: alright, I will, bye I love you
Brad: bye I love you too.
I sent in my essay and then called Megan.
Megan: hey Savannah
Me: hey Brad told me you had news?
Megan: yes! Matt got a full scholar ship to Vanderbilt!
Me: that's great
Megan: and guess what
Me: oh lord what Meg?
Megan: I got a full ride to the University of Virginia!
Me: Megan, that's amazing! Are you going to sign on signing day or sometime else?
Megan: signing day
Me: good. So how's your schedule?
Megan: We all have the same classes except for third hour
Me: good, oh has Kiley gotten any offers?
Megan: yeah I think she got one from Alabama and then one from Ohio State.
Me: that's good, well I have to go bye Meg
Megan: alright good luck tonight, bye Savannah
I hung up with Megan and changed into my gear. We loaded the bus and went to the stadium. In the locker room we changed and all did our own things to get ready. Kelley and I were the first ones out after the goal keepers. We stretched and then I got my shots before heading in. I put on my jersey and my jacket. I went to line up but was pulled back.
Hope: you okay?
Me: yeah I'm just a little nervous.
Hope: just making sure, don't worry though you'll be fine
Me: thanks Hope
Hope: of course SB
We walked out and the anthem played. We took the picture and then took the field. The whistle blew and Brazil kicked off. They came full force but we defended well. We spent a lot of time in their attacking third but couldn't convert. We went to halftime and Jill switched Kelley in for Pinoe and Moe in for Allie.
We kicked off and kept the ball on our half for a bit. In the 56th minute Tobin had the ball and played Alex on her run. Alex slotted the ball away and we celebrated. Our celebration was cut short because the AR called Alex off sides. The play resumed and we kept trying. At the end of regular time it was still tied 0-0 and we went into our first overtime.
The next two 10 minute overtimes were nail biting. We both had shots but couldn't land one in the net. The whistle blew and we all went over to Jill.
Jill: alright ladies let's take a breath. Our number one is Alex, two is Moe, three is Tobin, four is Carli, five is Baby Horse, six is Kelley, and seven is Allie. Let's focus and we can do this
I was frozen, so many thought were racing through my head. I saw Hope warming up and setting her focus so I knew I couldn't go talk to her. Ash and Ali were then in front of me.
Ash: you got it don't worry
Ali: it's not as scary as you think, I promise.
Me: uh uh I'm good.
It was time to start and the coin toss made Brazil go first. Both teams lined up and Marta was the 1st and Hope went the right way but couldn't reach it. Alex went next and the keeper went the wrong way letting the ball sail in. Brazil made the next one and Moe made hers. Both teams made the 3rd and 4th shots. The 5th Brazil player came up and went right. Hope anticipated it and knocked it out. The score was 4-4 with one shot left.
