Felicity had fallen asleep in Oliver's arms and he left the apartment not long after, letting her rest. Oliver went to the police station looking for Captain Lance.
Oliver wandered into Quentin Lance's office, rapping his knuckles on the frame of his door. Quentin looked up from his, computer screen,"Oliver, I thought you might come.. I heard about Felicity, how is she?" He asked.
"She's fine, she's resting at home," Oliver replied.
After and ackward silence, Lance asked,"What can I do for you, Oliver?"
"I need to talk to you about that night we rescued Donna Smoak from Darhk," Oliver stated.
"What about it?" Lance inquired,"my most trusted officers handled the arrest."
"You didn't make the arrest yourself?" Oliver asked, confused.
"Well uhhh..Donna asked me to take her home and then I uh, she uh, I ended up staying the night," Quentin stuttered, turning bright red.
Oliver hesitated and cleared his throat ackwardly," Do you have the record of the arrest?" He demanded.
"Of course I have record of the arrest, Oliver, what are you telling me?" Asked Quentin, confused.
"The person, the man who put Felicity in the hospital last night, it was Darhk," Oliver replied.
Quentin put a hand over his face and groaned, then called one of the SCPD's finest into the office. "Get me all records we have on Damien Darhk, written and computerized," Captain Lance ordered.
"Yes sir," replied the officer.About ten minutes later, the officer returned with a thin file in her right hand. "This is all the records we have, sir," she said, plopping the file onto the desk.
"Just a minute, Raven, where is the record of Darhk's arrest the evening of the 15th?" The captain demanded.
"There was none, sir" the officer replied.
"Do you remember who those officers were who made the arrest?" Oliver asked, addressing the captain.
"No, no I don't," Lance answered, defeated.
"Quentin, I need you to think, think hard, catching Darhk depends on it," Oliver urged, impatiently.
Lance attempted to bring his memory back to that night. Donna Smoak had ran into his arms and he had hesitantly put his arms around her. Two or was it three, officers followed behind him and cuffed Darhk. The officers headed out of the building, leading Darhk in front and that was when Donna had asked him to stay with her. He didn't remember the faces of the officers, because they were not officers at all. The three people who had taken Darhk were probably Darhk's own men.
Quentin hit himself in the forehead with the heel of his hand. "What is it?" Demanded Oliver.
"They weren't my men," Quentin said simply.
Oliver ran a hand over his stubble-covered face and stood up. "Thank you for your time,"he said before leaving the office.
Quentin sat back in his chair with a hand covering his face.Thea had agreed to keep the kids at her place until things smoothed over and calmed down. Oliver called to tell her the latest developments as he drove back to the apartment. Felicity was sitting on the couch laptop in her lap, when Oliver opened the door. "Hey," she greeted, weakly.
"Hey," answered Oliver, bending over Felicity to kiss her gently.
"Get any leads?" She wondered.
"You know me so well," chuckled Oliver, taking a seat on the couch," and no, the lead was a dead end, apparently the "officers" who arrested your father were his own men, not SCPD's."
"Oh," Felicity said simply.
"Your father is still out there, and until we catch him he has any opportunity to hurt you so I'm not letting you out of my sight," Oliver said, pulling Felicity against him.
Felicity snuggled against his chest, but remained silent, eyes staring ahead, blankly. She knew what she had to do.
