"Finally! I'm done!"
I looked at my masterpiece and smiled.
I finally got all my books organized and on the bookshelf. It literally took me two hours to straighten them up.
"I filled up the entire bookcase!" I stated happily, admiring my handiwork. Then my stomach grumbled.
"Oh!" I exclaimed. I was so focused on organizing my books that I did not even eat breakfast, let alone think about it!
"Silly me."
As I began heading towards the kitchen, I found myself looking around the new place, my eyes shifting from side to side.
I moved into this house just yesterday afternoon, and I was already starting to feel at home. I was really liking the small town of Madison.
"The people here are so nice and work together to provide a safe and happy town," I said as I made my way into the kitchen. An interesting thought then popped into my mind.
"I wonder if the neighbors are friendly also."
I grabbed my favorite cereal, Honey Nut Cheerios, from the counter and poured it into the empty bowl...that, somehow, was already on the kitchen table...with a spoon next to it.
Hmm...
I put the box of Honey Nut Cheerios on the table. I was about to sit down and eat, when all of a sudden ---
Clink!
I heard a noise. Where was it coming from?
Clink!
There it is again! It sounded like it was coming from upstairs.
I quickly ran out of the kitchen and went upstairs.
"It sounds like it is coming from my bedroom," I told myself. I opened my bedroom door and peered inside. Nope. Nothing out of the ordinary.
What the heck was that strange noise? Well, whatever it was, it is long gone by now.
I started closing my bedroom door when I saw something from the corner of my eye.
Clink!
The noise was coming from my bedroom window!
I slowly came up to the window.
Clink!
"Oh my gosh!" I jumped back a little, breathing heavily. I felt my heart beat go faster. Once I started to calm down, I put my hands under the window and lifted it up to get a better look at what - or who - was making the sounds. I narrowed my eyebrows as I peered down to find four small rocks that were scattered over the grass.
"Hey!"
I jerked my head - and bang my forehead against the raised-up window. "Ow," I moaned.
I did not even see the two teenagers - a boy and a girl - that were staring up at me!
"Who are you?" I called out, rubbing my palm against my forehead.
"My name is Hannah," the girl spoke up. "This is my boyfriend - Zach."
