I glanced at the knife that I still grasped in my hand. The end of the knife was covered in blood. Drops of blood dripped from the knife and to the ground. I loosened my grip on the knife, and the knife slipped from my fingers and fell down. It clattered to the floor.

"Shelly..." was all that Champ could say. He could not believe what he was seeing.

"What did you do, Shelly?" Hannah asked again.

I looked back up at the group. "I...I can explain," I started. "It was all—"

"A wonderful sight!" Slappy interrupted. "You should have been there! She stabbed her caretaker with no care in the world!" He slapped the back of my leg, and I let out a yelp. "I knew that she would do it sooner or later. With some convincing from me."

"No!" I argued.

Shivers frowned and crossed his arms. "You bad puppet," he said, staring at the puppet.

"Thanks for the compliment," Slappy replied. "I am a bad boy." He narrowed his wooden eyebrows at Shivers. "Hello, Papa."

Papa?

"How long has it been? Feels like forever." He turned to Zach and Champ. "Who are your new friends?"

Champ shielded his eyes, and Zach covered his ears.

I shrugged and covered my mouth.

'See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.'

Shivers let out a growl. "Slappy...it is so nice to see you again," he said. I could tell by the tone of his voice that he was lying.

"Did you miss me?"

"Of course, I missed you."

"Liar!" He picked up the knife and shoved it in his jacket pocket.

"Ew," Zach said, eyeing the bloody knife. Some of the blood was staining the pocket, but Slappy did not care.

"Slappy, how did you and the others escape the manuscript?" Shivers asked. "It was locked tight this time."

This time?

The puppet cackled. "Simple. We kept struggling to open the book. The lock finally broke, and we broke free! Hahaha!"

"You will not get away with this," Zach told him, uncovering his ears.

Slappy grinned at him. "Oh, but I plan on doing so. You see, I know my flaws. I know what went wrong with my last plan. Why you won, and I lost."

"And the monsters decided to help you again?" Hannah wondered. "Even after you failed them?"

"Yep. I convinced them easily."

"...how?"

"I would give each of them a piece of candy. In return, they would help me take over the world."

"Really?" Champ spoke, feeling surprised as he uncovered his eyes.

"Yep! Believe it or not, it worked."

I uncovered my mouth, and then looked down and played with my fingers. I could feel sweat pour down my forehead. I was a nervous wreck now. I did not want to be here. I wished that I was with Chase and Carrots back in Belfast, Maine.

"Shelly, why are you wearing a wedding dress?" Hannah interrupted my thoughts, pointing at the dress.

"Why else?" Slappy answered for me. He took my hand into his. "She is going to be my bride."

"I do not think so," Shivers stated.

"Oh, yeah? Try and stop me, Papa."

Cassandra moaned louder, and Hannah ran over to her.

"You had better help the caretaker," the puppet told them. "She may die if she does not get the proper treatment that she needs."

With that said, Slappy and I teleported out of the police station. I found myself in the passenger's seat of a car and saw the puppet in the driver's seat.

"Next stop! The high school!" Slappy declared. He looked at me and stroked my cheek with the back of his wooden hand. "And you and I will be married shortly."
