Stine's eyes widened. "What? How...?" He could not believe it. Heck, I was there and did it, and I did not believe it.
I giggled. "Impressive, huh?"
Still holding the paper, the writer leaned forward in his chair and glanced up at me. "How...how did you manage to write the ending? I know that you used my typewriter, but...how did you finish it? I followed you to the theatre and not once did I see you type on the typewriter. Slappy was keeping you distracted."
A huge smile spread across my face. "You forget. At one point, Slappy left the room, which gave me time to write."
"But...he was only gone for ten seconds!"
I shrugged. "Eh. I write pretty fast when feeling annoyed or getting sick of the writing. Besides, I had the whole ending thought out." He was about to say something, but I quickly interrupted. "And before you ask, yes. I wrote the twist too, so the story would be a true Goosebumps book."
The expression on the writer's face made me giggle some more. He was both surprised and impressed at the same time. Usually, it takes a writer forever to write just one book. But not me. I write almost every day, and the chapters that I write are short, sweet, and to the point. I particularly do not like writing such long chapters. Trust me, if I do not finish the chapter in one day, then that chapter and the book itself would never be completed.
And my fans would not want that, now would they?
Stine took the manuscript. He opened it and began fiddling with the pages, putting the written papers that he and I wrote into the book. As I waited patiently, I started worrying about my cute and wonderful baby sister. Thoughts came in my mind.
That stupid puppet has Tamara, and he is keeping her hostage until I comply to his demands.
I hope that she is okay.
The dummy had better not hurt her. She is precious and innocent.
I am not going to be his bride. That will never happen. Cassandra would not allow it, thank goodness.
But if I do not...
...if I do not become his queen...
...then...
...what will he do to Tamara?
Will...will he kill her?!
I covered my mouth and teared up. I did not want him to do anything hurtful to my little sister. I also did not want to be his bride.
What was I going to do?
"Shelly?" Hannah said, wrapping her arms around my waist and hugging me. "What is the matter?"
I tried speaking, but my lips would not move. I was suddenly filled with too much worry. Too much fear.
"Shelly?"
I could not hold in my sadness any longer. I hugged on her and burst out crying.
"Whoa!" I heard Champ exclaim. He must have been surprised by my outburst.
"What is going on, Shelly?" I heard Zach ask. "Why are you crying?"
Cassandra crossed her arms. "I think that I know why," she said. I noticed her glaring at Stine. Her eyebrows were narrowed. "Why do you not tell them? You were also there."
Stine frowned and sighed as he continued putting the papers in the manuscript. "Fine," he responded, feeling defeated.
So he explained the whole story to his daughter and the boys. How Slappy had Tamara. How I had the choice of either being his queen or without a baby sister. It was indeed a tough choice to make.
"Oh my gosh," Hannah said. "What are we going to do?"
"I do not know what you guys are going to do. I know what I am going to do though," my caretaker stated. "I will find that dummy and demand him to give Tamara back." She clenched a hand into a tight fist. "Or else."
"No, wait." Stine grabbed Cassandra's arm. "He wants Shelly, right?"
Cassandra jerked her arm away. "Yes, but he will not have her."
"Agreed." He closed the manuscript. "Which is why I have a proposal."
"And that would be...?"
He handed the manuscript back to me and smiled. "Shelly, I want you to go outside and see Slappy."
