The priest and puppet turned to Cassandra with surprise looks on both of their faces.

"Who the heck are you?" the priest questioned.

"I am Cassandra, Shelly's caretaker!" she responded. "Let my girl go!"

As much as I did not want to admit it, I was relieved that my caretaker had arrived in the nick of time. Although she was a pain to deal with, at least she was not forcing me into marriage, like marrying a dummy.

Cassandra took a step forward. She gently waved her arms back and forth. The front of her clothes were filthy, and her blonde hair was in tangles, but that did not bother her.

I got a good look at her stomach and hands. No blood. No blood anywhere. Not a single red spot.

How was that possible?

Yes, time did pass. She did get stabbed in the morning, and it was now the afternoon. She could have washed the dry blood from her hands.

But...what about the wound that I accidentally made in her stomach? It would have taken a while to treat that wound.

Slappy placed his wooden hands on my legs and pulled himself out of my lap. Clonk! went his brown shoes as he set himself on the cold floor and straightened his legs.

He patted my knee. "Stupid human," he commented. "How did you find us?"

"Easy," Cassandra stated. "I noticed my Shelly in the car and saw the car driving all the way to this school. Once I got here, it was only a matter of hearing you yell like you are boss around here!"

"I am the boss! I am the ruler and call the shots!"

"Not anymore." She glared at the priest and hopped onto the teacher's desk, grinning. The book slipped out of his grasp, and the priest shuddered.

"No. Please," he pleaded. "Not the face. Not the face!"

She ignored his pleas and punched him in the face, and then the stomach. The monstrous priest cried out and fell back, his body hitting the chalkboard that was on the wall behind him.

The puppet grabbed my arm and was about to teleport us away, when the caretaker grabbed his wooden wrist.

"Oh, no," she said. "You are not going anywhere with Shelly. She belongs to me!"

"Get another slave!" Slappy spat, spitting in her face. "She is mine! Slappy's bride!"

My caretaker wiped off the spit. "That...is...it!" She wrapped her arms around his waist and hoisted him into the air.

"Hey!" he cried. He tried keeping a grip on my arm, but Cassandra easily tugged his hand off and threw him to a corner of the classroom. His wooden head hit the wall, and he fell to the floor.

I could not believe what I had just witnessed. "Mmm?" I was amazed at what Cassandra did to Slappy.

And I am sure that I was not the only person amazed.

The caretaker helped me to my feet, and then took my hand into hers and led me out of the room.

We ran down the hallway, our shoes patting against the hard ground. I tried my best to keep up with Cassandra. She was so darn fast!

I lifted up a side of my dress from the ground. I was afraid that I would trip and fall.

I looked behind me.

Nobody. No one was following us.

I breathed a sigh of relief - from my nose, seeing that my lips would still not move - as we reached a dead end. Cassandra spun around and hugged me.

"I am happy that you are okay," she said. She pulled away from the hug and glanced at the dead end, and then back at me. "Do not worry. I will get us out of here and get you to safety." She placed her back and hands against the wall and moved her hands all around. "There has to be a secret door or something." She blew a strand of hair from her eyes and stared at me. "Shelly...I want to apologize."

"Mmm?" That was a shocking development.

"No, I do not want to. I need to," she corrected. "I have treated you unfairly." She cleared her throat. "Yes...I have. There...there is something that I know that you do not. The reason that I have not told you is because...well...you may not believe me." She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Shelly...you do not have parents. You do not have a mom or a dad."

My eyes bulged. I could feel sweat pouring from my palms. If I could speak, I would have told her that she was crazy and that I remember my parents. My dad's name was Harold, and my mom's name was Lauren.

"And the reason that you do not have parents..." Cassandra continued. "...is because you were in a coma."
