"Broke...up?" Hannah repeated. Her voice was low and soft. Though, I could hear her clearly. She looked at her father, and then back at my caretaker. "What...what do you mean by that?"

Cassandra's eyes widened, and then she went back to frowning. "I do not have time for this," she said. She walked away from them and over to me. "Are you alright, Shelly?" She put her hands on my shoulders. "Did that dummy hurt you?"

I shook my head. "Almost," I replied. "He would have if I did not react the ways that I did."

She pulled me in a hug, and I hugged her back. Usually, I do not like her hugging me or me hugging her. That was before I knew the truth. The sudden realization. And now that I knew, I had a bit of an understanding why my caretaker acted unfair and annoying. She cared for me and did not want to lose me, like when she lost me for three years. Three years in a coma. She must have been very worried.

"Wait," Champ spoke up, eyeing Cassandra. "So you used to date...Stine?" He gestured to Shivers. Er...Stine? "This guy right here?"

The caretaker ignored him. "We should go home, Shelly," she insisted. "It is too dangerous here. Your creations..." She glared at...Shivers or Stine - whatever name that you want to go with. "...and the poor excuse there will sort this mess out."

"No!" Shivers - or Stine - protested. He and the others hurried over to us. "Cassandra, please. Do not go."

Cassandra placed her hands on her hips. "Oh, what is the matter? You cannot take the heat?"

He ran a hand through his hair. "Cassandra...I...I...I still have feelings for you."

She dropped her arms to the sides, and a surprise look appeared on her face. "What did you just say?"

"I have feelings for you. I know that we are not together anymore, but you make me happy. You were there for me when no one else was and treated me like a good friend." He stared into her eyes. "You are unlike any girl that I have met before, and...I love you."

I could see Cassandra's cheeks turning red. She breathed heavily and played with a strand of her hair.

"Stine," my caretaker said as she raised her arms and held his face in her hands, her fingers making contact with his cheeks, which were also red. A small smile appeared on her face - and she slapped him, causing his glasses to fall off, and the smile instantly disappeared out of sight. "I am not dumb! I remember what happened days ago! And you are still with Lorraine!"

Shivers - okay, I am going with Stine from now, seeing that the caretaker is calling him that - cried out and rubbed the side of his face. "My glasses!" he exclaimed, getting on his knees and searching for them on the floor.

"Dad!" Hannah said. She looked at the caretaker and narrowed her eyebrows. "Why did you do that?!"

Cassandra sighed. "What he just said was not true at all. It was a lie and downright hurtful."

"He said that he loved you!" Zach told her.

"If he loved me, then he would have not left me for Lorraine!"

"Huh?" Champ said. "He left you?" I was shocked myself by her statement.

"It was two months ago," Cassandra explained. "Back when Shelly was in a coma." Champ opened his mouth and was about to speak, and she glared at him. "I hate interruptions." He closed his mouth and looked down. "Anyway, I needed to get my mind off of Shelly and her coma, so I decided to go to the library and get something to drink. I like the library, and the library sells coffee and other kinds of drinks. When I got there and ordered, I tried finding a seat. The place was packed that day, and there were no empty seats. Then a man waved me over to his table. I was shy at first, but came to him, and he let me sit in the seat that was across from him. We then started chatting, and boy, we had so much in common. It was fun being with him. He even got my drink for me."

"Awe," Hannah said, slightly smiling.

"And then what happened?" Zach asked. "What happened when you two broke up?"

She frowned at Stine, who was still in search of his glasses, and then looked back at the kids. "It was two weeks ago. We had planned a date on the day that he stood me up. He called me on the phone and said that he was done with me. He had fallen in love with another girl named Lorraine. He was going to say more, but I was very upset. I hung up on him and cried for the rest of the day."

My face saddened. Man. I felt sorry for her.

Stine finally found his glasses and stood back up. He blew on the lenses and put his glasses back on. "I did a stupid move, okay?" he admitted. "I am sorry."

"Sorry does not cut it." She looked at me. "Come on, Shelly."

"Hold on," I spoke and looked at Stine. "You need a writer. Right?"

He slowly nodded. "Yes."

"A writer who is creative?"

"Yes, and can do twisted endings."

I took a deep breath and let it out. "Mr. Stine, I believe that I am the writer that you are looking for."
