"Huh?!" I glanced at my room. "W-who said that?"
"Why, I did, baby. In the car."
I glanced back at the car. I squinted to get a better look at who - or what - was in the car. But alas, I did not see anyone or anything. That was because all the windows of the car were tainted black. You could not see through them.
"Who...who are you?" I asked, feeling a bit nervous. "I c-cannot see you."
"Oh, you will soon," the voice answered. "Just think of me as a friend of yours. A close friend."
A shiver shot down my spine. Whoever it was talked nicely, yet creepily. I came to liking and disliking his voice at the same time. And I immediately knew that it was a male's voice. High-pitched though.
I put my elbows on the windowsill and rested my head in my hands. "What do you look like?" I wondered. Curiosity got the best of me.
"Hmm. Brown hair. I am pretty short," he admitted. "I also wear a gray suit with a red bow-tie and shoes and have a good sense of humor."
"Really?" I imagined what he might be like using the descriptions that he gave me.
"Do you like humor?"
I shook my head, for he interrupted my thoughts, and nodded. "Do I? Yes. Very much. And for the record, I was shaking my head because you had interrupted my thinking, not because I was saying no."
He chuckled. "You have such a wonderful voice. A voice that is as sweet as you."
I could feel my cheeks getting hot, and my palms began sweating. "Are...are you flirting with me?"
"Why, yes. Yes, I am."
I turned my body away, my back facing the car. I pressed my fingers against my cheeks. Yep. My cheeks were definitely warm. So very warm.
"Aw," I heard the mysterious person say. "Now I cannot see her beautiful face."
I blushed even more and turned back. "Are you talking about me?" I asked. "My face?"
"Not just your face. Your cute and beautiful face."
I giggled at his flirting. He was making me blush so much. And yet I barely knew him. I had an idea of what he looked like, but that was it.
"Enough of the flirting," he commented. "Let us get down to business."
"Business?" I questioned. "What kind of business?"
"A plain and simple business. You see, I have had my eye on you for a while, and I could not help but feel sorry as to what you are going through."
My eyes widened.
Should I be creeped out that he had been spying on me?
"Y-your eye? O-on me?"
"Yep. You must be miserable. You lost your parents. Your caretaker treats in a painful way. You have no friends. And no one understands you."
I tilted my head down. "...yeah."
"I am sorry. I did not catch that."
I looked back at the car. "You are right. About everything." I ran a hand through my hair. "I am feeling like a slave."
"Well, there is no reason to feel lonely."
"Why not?"
"Because I have been in a similar situation that you are in. However, I am free now!"
"Free?" I tilted my head to the side and raised an eyebrow. "How...how did you get free?"
"By accident. You would think that I was crazy if I told you the story."
"No, I would not. Please. Tell me."
All of a sudden, I felt shaking. I lost my balance and fell back, landing on the carpet. I rubbed my bottom and looked at my room. Everything was shaking.
My bed.
The clothes that were hanging in my closet and beginning to fall off.
Some of my books falling off the shelf.
After what seemed like forever of shaking, I slowly got to my feet - and screamed as a huge hand reached in through the open window. The hand was white and hairy.
I started taking steps back, and before I had a chance to react, the hand grabbed me and pulled me out of my room.
"Let me go!" I shouted. "Put me down!"
I looked up - and saw two enormous creatures.
One was obviously a praying mantis. The other that was holding me in its grasp was what looked to be an abominable snowman.
My body shook. I turned - and saw more monsters. Monster after monster after monster. There were all kinds of them.
"Charge!" the person who I had a conversation a few minutes ago said, and the monsters hurried off.
And I was coming along.
