California Dream Part Two

Chapter 5

"Holá," Sam says as he walks through the front door.

"Hey," I reply.

"Where's Kian at?"

"He went upstairs to take a shower."

"What? And you didn't join him?"

"Shut up. You're such a perv."

He lets out a little laugh. We take a seat at the kitchen table and start to talk.

"So how's everything going between you and Andrea?" I ask.

"Pretty good. We're thinking about moving in with each other."

"Was that your news that you needed to tell us?" I question.

"Kind of, not exactly though."

"Tell me," I plead.

"No, you have to wait until everyone's here."

"Fine," I say as I cross my arms in disappointment.

"Hey," Kian says to Sam as he walks into the kitchen.

"What's up?" Sam asks.

"Nothing much. What's the news you needed to tell us?"

"Dear god did you tell everyone?" Sam says looking at me.

"You didn't imply that you wanted it to be a secret or anything," I say.

"I'm kidding it's fine. You guys have to wait until everyone's here though."

"You both know I'm a very impatient person, this isn't going to go well," I tell them.

I get up and walk to the cabinet to get some goldfish. I pour a bowl and take a seat at the table.

"Why are you eating goldfish? It's like 10:30," Sam says.

"Just don't even question it," Kian says. "She has a really weird obsession with goldfish."

"Ohhh ok."

The front door swings open and in comes Ricky, Connor, and Trevor.

"Hello there," Trevor says.

"Hey," Kian says.

"Where's Ashley at?" Connor asks.

"Upstairs getting dressed," I say.

"What? And you didn't join her?" Sam says.

Everyone turns their attention to me and just stares.

"Oh my god, what is wrong with you?" I question.

"I'm completely lost," Connor admits.

"Sam's just a perv."

"I am not! What makes you say that?" He says with a sly smile.

"Sam came in and asked where Kian was so I said he was upstairs taking a shower. Then he said 'what you aren't joining him?' and then I said no you're a perv."

"And what does that have to do with Ashley?" Connor questions.

"I don't know Sam's just being weird like usual."

"You get used to it after so long," Kian says.

"I hope so," I say rolling my eyes.

"Hey guys," Ashley says.

"Thank you! Now I'm not the only girl down here with these weirdos," I say.

"Fine then I see how it is. If you don't like weirdos I guess we're done," Kian jokes.

"Ouch," I laugh.

He leans down and gives me a kiss.

"Eww gross! PDA! PDA!" Sam shouts.

"Oh shut up," Kian says.

Sam just sticks his tongue out, and of course Kian does it in return. Yup that's my boyfriend for you.

"Alright, what movie are we seeing?" Ricky asks.

"How's the Conjuring sound?" Ashley asks.

We all agree it sounds good. Trevor looks up the times and we decide to go see the 1:00 one.

"It's only 11 you guys want to go get something to eat before we go?" Sam questions.

"Yes I'm starving," I say.

"Hey, you have no say in this. Be quiet and eat your damn goldfish," he jokes.

"Gosh who crapped in your cornflakes?" I ask.

At that Sam can't help but laugh.

"So food. Everyone good with that?" Sam asks after composing himself.

We all agree then head out to Sam's car. Since he has a big SUV that sits up to 8 people we all just ride in that instead of all of us driving separately.

About 10 minutes later we pull into a restaurant called Rio Grande. I know I've been here before but I can't place when it was or who I was with.

We get out then go inside. I look around the restaurant trying to remember. Then it hits me. This was the place I came to with Erin on my first day in California.

It's a bit hard for me now but I try my best to just act normal. We all talk then order our food. Everything feels alright but it still isn't quite the same without Erin here with me.

This was supposed to be our California Dream, but now I'm the only one living it.
