"I swear this isn't what it looks like," I blurt.
"Oh really?" Erin asks bitterly.
"She's right, it isn't," Jc says. His voice sounds innocent and hurt. It's so annoying I just want to smack him in the face. "She came out here and kissed me. I don't know why but she did."
I flash him a look of betrayal. "He's lying!" I shout. I look at Kian. My eyes search his to see if he believes me.
"Why would I do that? I know how much you mean to Kian," Jc shoots back.
"Cut the crap Jc. Tell them the truth."
"Hey don't talk to him like that!" Erin snaps at me.
"Are you kidding me right now? You're really going to believe this lie that he's feeding you?"
"I don't understand why he would be lying," Erin says.
"Because you cheated on him!" I yell as if it was obvious.
"I get that, but why would he do it with you? That makes no sense. I just think you're jealous of Jc."
"Jealous? Of that!" I say bitterly as I point to him. "Hell no. He's a disgusting scum bag that should go to hell. He deserved to be cheated on."
"You know I think you're the one feeding us the lie here. Jc would never do this," Erin says.
"Well then clearly you don't know your own husband." I push past her and walk inside before she can say another word. I sit in mine and Kian's room for a good half hour until the door finally opens revealing Kian.
He closes the door and lays down on the bed. I get up from my chair but before I can sit down he speaks.
"No just stay there," he says through his hands.
I turn back around and sit down in the chair.
"Why? Why would you do this?" He asks.
"I didn't do this Kian."
"Oh and you really think I'm going to believe that my best friend just decided to kiss my fiancé because he wanted to?" He asks as he sits up.
"Yes Kian."
"Well then you're out of your damn mind."
"I went outside because I couldn't sleep-," he cuts me off before I can finish.
"Look I really don't want to hear this."
"Kian I don't care if you want to hear this or not. I just want you to believe me for once!" I shout. He goes quiet. I explain the story of what happened.
Kian stays quiet as he stares at me. His eyes travel mine as if trying to see if I'm lying or telling the truth.
"I'm telling the truth Kian. I swear."
"Well you know what I think?" He asks.
"What?"
"I think Jc's right. You have changed, but you aren't the person I used to know. You're a liar now."
"Kian. Please just believe me." A tear falls down my face. "Kian, I love you."
"If you loved me you'd have told the truth!"
"Kian that is the truth!"
"It is not!"
"You know that Jc has changed. He's not who he used to be. You even said it yourself."
"Yeah but you said yourself that we've changed too," he says.
"I didn't mean it like that though. I meant that we're changing for the better. We're getting married."
"Yeah well." There's a short pause. He looks as though he's pondering if he should really say what he's thinking. "Yeah well, now we aren't."
"You're willing to just throw away everything that we have just because you feel that I'm lying about this?"
He gives me a stern look. His jaw clenches up as if reconsidering his decision. His deep eyes soften but turn stern again when he speaks.
"I guess so."
I get up from my chair and walk into my closet. I pull my suitcase out from the top shelf and throw all the clothes in it that I can find. I run into the bathroom and quickly collect everything I can find that's mine and shove it into the suitcase.
"What are you doing?" Kian asks.
"I'm leaving."
"That's stupid. Why are you leaving."
"Because clearly I made a mistake loving you." After my words come out they hit him like a boulder. His jaw clenches again and his eyes burn with hurt. "If you can't trust me when I'm telling you the truth then clearly I've made a mistake. I'm not going to stay here where everyone's against me telling the truth when you're sitting there believing the one who you really should be afraid of."
"You can't just leave like this though," Kian says.
"Actually if you have the nerve to sit there and say that we won't be getting married then I have every right to leave. I'm not your fiancé anymore Kian. I'm not your girlfriend, I'm not even your friend anymore." I pull the ring off my finger. "Here's this back." I throw the ring at him. He tries to catch it but it falls to the floor. Crashing against the hard wood within seconds. Just like our relationship.
