After the plane is in the air I close my eyes and try my best to sleep, it doesn't work though. I resort to looking out the window watching the world below me. Finally I drift off.

I wake up a few hours later. I check my phone. Still another hour until we land in LA. I look for any texts or calls from Erin. Nothing. I thought she would've called me by now. I put my headphones in and listen to music the remainder of the plane ride. My fingers make small circles on the ring box in my pocket.

I follow the other passengers into the airport after the plane lands, and grab my bags then catch a taxi back to the house. When I get out the house is scarcely lit. I unlock the door and walk inside.

"Kian I'm home!" I call. I hear footsteps upstairs then he appears in the upstairs hallway.

"What are doing home?" He asks. "I thought you were going to stay for another week." He makes his way down the steps towards me.

"After you left I had my mom take me to a hotel. I didn't want to be anywhere near my dad. Then I woke up this morning and just decided I didn't want to be there anymore so I got a flight back here."

"Oh."

"You left this by the way," I say as I pull the ring box out of my pocket.

"Oh thanks." The look of hurt fills his eyes again. He takes the box and shoves it in his pocket as if wishing it never happened.

"I'm sorry," I tell him.

"Why are you sorry?"

"I'm sorry for acting like a coward. I told you not to let my dad intimidate you when I let him intimidate me. I was scared that's why I said no."

"That doesn't make you a coward," he says. His eyes soften.

"It does. If I wasn't a coward I would've taken my own advice and just forgot about my dad."

"You are not a coward. You were just trying to care about everyone else's opinions of me that you forgot to care about your own," he says as he brushes away a strand of my loose hair.

"Kian?"

"Yeah?" He asks.

"I would love to marry you," I say with a smile.

He gives me a kiss then slides the ring box out of his pocket and opens it for me. I take the ring and slide it on my finger.

He leans down and brushes his lips to my ear. "It looks as perfect as you," he whispers.

A smile dances across my lips and I know I've made the right choice.
