I wake up alone the next morning. I roll over and look at the clock. 12:00.

"Hey sleepy head," Kian says with a smile as I walk into the kitchen.

"Morning," I say.

"More like afternoon," Sam corrects.

"Where's Ashley at?" I ask.

"Living room!" I hear her call.

I turn around and make my way to the living room.

"Hey," Ashley says.

"Holá."

"What's up?"

"Nothing much," I say as I sit down in the recliner.

"Are you and Kian doing anything today?"

"Not that I know of, why?"

"I wanted to see if you wanted to get some Christmas shopping done."

"Yeah that sounds good. When do you want to leave here?" I ask.

"Whenever you're ready."

"Alrighty." I stand and make my way back upstairs. I take a quick shower then blow my hair dry. I put on a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a pink and black stripped sweater and my black combat boots. I put my makeup on, grab my purse then head downstairs.

"Alright, let's go," I say as I walk downstairs.

Ashley meets me at the front door.

"Where are you guys going?" Kian asks.

"Christmas shopping. We'll probably be gone for awhile."

"Alright. Me and Sam might go do something so I might not be here when you get back."

"Alrighty, bye."

"Bye," Kian and Sam both say.

We get in my car then start towards the mall.

"So what all do you need to get?" Ashley asks.

"A present for my mom and dad, one for you, one for Erin and Jc, one for my sister, and one for Kian. What all do you need to get?"

"One for you, Connor, Erin and Jc, and my parents."

"What are you getting Connor?" I question.

"It's some watch that he said he wanted. What are you getting Kian?"

"I have absolutely no idea. He didn't give me any ideas plus I have no idea what I'm supposed to get a 21 year old guy."

"Well there's a lot of things I can think of," she says in a voice hinting that what she's thinking is dirty.

"Of course you can," I laugh. "I need something appropriate. He's going to be opening this in front if my parents."

"Oh yeah then definitely don't go for the things I'm thinking of," she says.

"Well what am I supposed to get him?" I question.

"I don't know a watch? I guess that's what guys like."

"I'm not getting him a watch."

"Get him a pennyboard," she suggests.

"Do you know what my dad would say if he saw him with a pennyboard."

"No, what?"

"My dad says that pennyboards are stupid and a waste of money. I wanted one really bad when I was younger and he said no because they looked dumb. I told him that I wanted to learn how to skateboard though. All he did was look me up and down then rolled his eyes and walked away."

"Why? That's stupid."

"Because my dad grew up thinking that anything that isn't normal means you're gay or stupid. That's the whole reason why I wanted to move out here so bad. Just everything he would say would just be so judgmental and cruel. If it wasn't his way then that's the wrong way. It just pissed me off so much."

"That's horrible. You're really going to take Kian to meet him?"

"I mean I have to. They're going to want to meet him at some point, mine as well make it now," I say.

"From what I'm getting about your dad, he'll rip Kian apart."

"Possibly," I say hesitantly.

"Well you can't do that."

"It's my life though. If my dad can't except the person that I love, then he can get over it. It's none of his business."

"He's your dad though."

"He has no control over me though I'm 21. It's none of his business what I do with my life."
