California Dream Part Two

Chapter 7

We make our way back out to Sam's car then drive home.

"You guys can stay over for awhile after we get back. I'm probably going to call Erin and Jc," I say.

"Alright. You guys mind if I stay with you for the night?" Sam asks.

"Yeah that's fine," Kian tells him.

"Alright thanks."

Sam pulls into the driveway and we all make our way inside.

Once I get in I glance at the clock and notice it's only 3:00.

"So what are all you guys doing for Christmas?" Ashley asks.

"Wait what's the date?" I ask.

"Uh I think it's the 10th, why?"

"My mind has just been completely lost lately. I forgot how close it was to Christmas. Looks like I got some shopping to do."

"You haven't gotten any shopping done?" She questions.

"No, I completely forgot about it."

"Nice job," Kian laughs.

"Thanks," I say sarcastically.

"So Christmas plans. What are all you guys doing?" She asks.

"I think I'm going home," Ricky says.

"Andrea said she wants me to go to Indiana with her," Sam says.

"What are you doing?" Kian asks me.

"Honestly I have no idea. I want to spend it with you though."

"Well would you want to stay here, go to my parents, or go to your parents?" He asks.

"I don't really know I have to think about it. What are you doing Ashley?" I ask.

"Connor and I are going to Minnesota."

"Ooo fun."

"Oh yeah."

"I think I want to go home this year. I mean we went to your parents last year and I haven't been home since I moved out here," I tell Kian.

"Alright that's fine," he says.

"Ok," I say with a smile.

I'm going home finally. I mean don't get me wrong I love California, but I've missed Kentucky and my family and friends.

"So what's Kentucky like?" Kian asks.

"Cold."

"Come to Minnesota during the winter," Connor says.

"Ok maybe not that cold, but it's still pretty cold."

"I'm all nervous now," he says.

"Why?"

"I've never met your family before. What are they going to think of me?"

"They'll like you, just trust me."

My phone starts to vibrate on the table. I reach for it and check the caller ID, Erin.

"Hey," I say as I put it on speaker.

"Hey what's up?"

"Nothing really, you're on speaker by the way."

"Oh hey guys."

"Heyyyy," Sam says.

Everyone else just says hi.

"Is everyone there?" She asks.

"Yeah we just saw a movie so we thought we'd all come back here and call you guys."

"Fun. I'll put you guys on speaker so Jc can here."

"Hi guys," Jc says.

"It's my little Justin!" Trevor shouts.

He lets out a laugh. "Hi Trevor."

"So where are you guys?" Kian asks.

"We're about 2 hours south of Portland," Jc says.

"Wow you guys covered a lot of road," Connor says.

"I mean that's about right. Estimated time from LA to Portland is 14 hours I think."

"Well you guys still have awhile to go," Ricky says.

"That's for sure," Erin says.

"How's Copeland doing?" I ask.

"Actually, really well. She's been sleeping majority of the day," Erin says.

"Well that's good," Ashley tells her.

"Yeah it is. I'm just thankful that her crying has been at a minimal," Jc says.

"That's for sure," Erin agrees.

"So how's everything been going today?" Erin asks.

"Good. It rained for once," I say.

"Well that's fun. What movie did you guys see?" She asks.

"The Conjuring," Ricky says.

"No way."

"Yeah, why?" Ashley asks.

"You seriously got Annie to go see a scary movie?" She questions.

At that Kian must've remembered the sight if seeing me jump during the movie because his laughter starts again.

"What's so funny?" She asks.

"Durning the movie this ghost appears and it scared the shit out of me. I screamed and jumped so badly I almost fell out of my seat," I explain.

"Oh my god, I wish I could've seen that," she laughs.

"It. Was so. Funny," Kian says between laughs.

"Must've been."

"Well what are you all planning on doing the rest of the night?" She asks.

"We didn't really have anything planned," Ashley says.

"Oh well go do something fun for me. I'm trapped in this car with minimal stops."

"Why do you have minimal stops?" Kian asks.

"Because Jc here said that he wants to cover as much road as possible today and doesn't want to stop."

"I gave you that cup," Jc says.

"Are you kidding me? I am not peeing in a cup. If I have to go to the bathroom you will stop," Erin says sternly.

"You tell him Erin!" I laugh.

"Who pees in a cup? Thats just disgusting."

"It's not that big of a deal," Jc says.

"No just be quite. I'm not doing it. Now that that's done with, you guys aren't doing anything?" She questions.

"Nope. I need to get my Christmas shopping done with though," I say.

"You still haven't done your shopping?"

"No, my mind just completely blanked about Christmas."

"Well nice job. By the way I wanted to ask you if you were going home this year."

"Yeah I am."

"Alright, we might be too we aren't sure though."

"Ok well just let me know."

"M'kay. Well I better let you guys go. Go throw a party or something for me."

Ashley lets out a laugh. "Alright, we will."

"Ok bye guys," she says.

"Bye!" Jc says in the background.

We all say bye then I hang up.
