I grab my bag and walk out of our room.

"Annie stop. Don't do this," Kian says as he grabs my arm.

"Don't do what? Throw away our relationship just like you did?" I question. "Like I said, I have every right to do this. As far as anyone could ever know you never even gave me that ring." I shake him off me and I walk downstairs then straight out to my car without stopping or looking back.

Once I get on the highway I realize I have no idea where I'm going. I have no where to go, I just drive though since it's the only solution I can think of right now.

After about 40 minutes of driving I pull into a rest stop to change. I grab my smaller bag and shove the things that I need into it. The parking lot lights flicker as the sky turns from deep blue black to pink, purple and orange.

When I get inside I walk into the bathroom and change. After that I brush my teeth and wash my face, the cold water feels good against my hot skin. I walk back out to the lobby of the rest area and look around. Other than a family with two kids and a worker it's empty. I spot a map on the wall and walk over to it.

A bright little star sticker marks the map where I'm at. Little white bold letters spell out the word Anaheim. I take my fingers and slide it across the smooth glass case that the map is in. I close my eyes and let my finger go wherever it wants to. When I open my eyes again they sit on different white bolded letters. This time they spell out San Diego. I guess that's where I'm going.

I take my bag and walk back out to my car. I start to think about San Diego as I put my things away. I've never actually been there before but I've heard about it a few times. It's one place Kian sure won't look to find me though. Kian. Just thinking about him hurts. I was so flustered while I was driving I couldn't think about anything, but now I can.

The way that he tried to catch the ring though meant something. It meant that he wanted to save this that he wanted to try. When it fell to the ground though, that meant something too. That meant that it couldn't be saved. We couldn't save it even if we tried. I snap out of my thoughts when the sound of a semi driving on the expressway hits my ears.

I turn back to my suitcase and shove my things into it. I rummage through it a little more to see everything that I brought. A shirt in it though catches my attention. It has red and white stripes on it. I don't remember having a shirt like that. I pull it out all the way. It's Kian's red and white striped tank that he always wore. I smile when I see it. No I can't though. I quickly shove the shirt back into my suit case and close the trunk to the car.

I lean against the back of the car as the sun rises into the sky. I check my phone and notice it's already 7:00. I better get going. I climb back into my car and drive. Every minute brings me closer to San Diego, but along with it takes me further away from Kian.
