I was still angry at my father. Why had he been so furious? Well, I knew why. But it wasn't rational! He just kissed me! That's it! Not anything that should be rewarded with him being dragged out of the room and me forced to go on this stupid ride.
Burying my thoughts for the moment, I saw the part-robot girl's eyes flick to the sides. I had already known something was amiss. That just confirmed it.
I turn my horse to the side quickly and see men running quietly towards us, swords drawn.
"Look out!" I cried, hoping my warning would be in time. It was, and the sound of our men's swords being drawn rang out loudly. Cursing that I didn't have a real sword, I drew my hidden dagger. At least it was something.
I saw a look of annoyance cross the girl's face and she sprinted towards us. The man behind her charged, and I could barely distinguish hawk feathers in his auburn hair.
Hawk. Either a pet or just ones he found. He probably just found them, but I looked up to the skies, just in case to see if it was there. I thought I saw a speck of black coming closer, but suddenly, my horse was pushed. I got off-balance and had to look back down, barely retaining my seat in the saddle. My guards were pushing my father and I in the middle of a protective circle they had made.
I growled in annoyance, and immediately dismounted Ismira, my horse. Pushing my way through the guards was easy, as they were on horses. If a fight was to be had, I would certainly be part of it.
Confound the dress I was wearing. It would hamper my movements much. Lifting the skirt, I hacked at it, cutting it short. I heard gasps behind me, but ignored them. What I had done could save my life.
Once I was finished, I stepped forward a few paces from the guards. I needed space to fight.
In a few seconds, the men were upon us. I joined the fight eagerly, gaining only minor scratches.
I had just finished fighting my last opponent when I found myself face to face with the robot-girl. My expression hardened in determination, as did hers. This would be no easy fight.
Going on the offense, I lunged at her with my dagger. Her weapons were two daggers, giving her the advantage. If I was holding one of her daggers off with my own, she could use her other one to slash at me.
She blocked it easily, and I expected no less, really. It was more a test to see her skills. To see how good she was. Which she was very good. An expert, I would guess. But thankfully, I had also trained. Not quite up to an expert level, thanks to the king, but at least the tides weren't unbearably in her favor.
Well, things just got exciting. We all hope you guys are still enjoying this story. :)
