So that is why she was upset. She thought I was interested in that other girl. I almost wanted to laugh out loud, but I didn't, because I knew it would only make Adira angrier; And an angry Adira was not someone you wanted to meet.

Instead, I swallowed my amusement and forced myself to be understanding. Well, as best I could, at least.

Gently, I pulled Adira into my arms and cuddled her. "Oh, Sweetheart, I am so sorry. I didn't mean any of that. I was... embarrassed that the woman wasn't you so I had to make up a reason for stopping her." I kissed the top of her head before pulling her against me once more. "Would you forgive me?"

At first, Adira was tense against me, but at my words, I felt her relax slightly. I looked into her eyes and waited for her to answer. They were slightly sparkling and I found myself entranced.

"Is that really what happened?" Adira asked me, almost hesitantly.

"Yes," I assured her, "I promise. You are the only one for me." Then, I pulled Adira's face closer to mine and slowly kissed her. She didn't hesitate to kiss me back and I tightened my arms around her, bringing her even closer against me.

"What do you think you are doing?!"

I pulled away from Adira towards the door. Standing in the doorway, was the king. And he was livid.

I quickly stumbled off the bed and bowed to him, trying to keep my composure. "My Lord... I-"

"Father, you can't just come barging in here!" Adira cut me off.

"Yes, I can. I can do anything I want. And I am glad I came in here when I did. I thought I had raised a more intelligent daughter than this."

I heard Adira gasp at her father's words. She climbed off the bed as well and stood beside me. She tugged on my arm, trying to get me to straighten, but I remained in my position.

"Daughter, I am greatly ashamed at you," the king growled. I couldn't see him, but I could hear from his voice that he was not happy with her. Or me.

"And you, soldier, what were you doing exactly?" He demanded from me.

I kept my head bowed as I answered, "I apologize, your majesty, I shouldn't h-"

Once again, Adira interrupted me. "Father, it was my fault. I made him do it," she lied.

"No, my lord. It was my fault. I was the one who kissed her and I take full responsibility for my actions." I told him submissively.

Siikkkee! Wow, someone is gonna get it! :( Alas for forbidden love. Well, anyway, We all hope you guys who are reading this are still enjoying this story. :)
