I was still crying when I felt Theo's arms wrap around me. He didn't say anything, but his very presence was enough.

Wrapping my own arms around him, I buried my head in his shoulder until my sobs reduced. I still couldn't believe that my father was gone. Forever.

Fighting back a fresh wave of tears, I took a shaky breath. Maybe he wasn't the best father, but he still was my father.

I looked up at Theo, who looked back with his eyes looking sorrowful, "I'm sorry," he said quietly to me, and I hugged him tightly. He hugged me back, and I closed my eyes again.

"Your majesty?" I heard a soldier say quietly, and the full impact of my father's death hit me. I was queen now. The fate of the kingdom was in my hands. But a small smile flickered on my lips, and I rested my head against Theo. I wasn't alone, though, in this task.

I opened my eyes, comforted, and slowly stood up with Theo's help, "Yes?" I asked the soldier, composing myself somewhat.

The soldier looked sorrowful as he said, "Should we take him away until the funeral?"

I nodded silently, and the soldiers lifted their king up, taking him away.

I felt Theo's fingers intwine my own, and gently lead me away, going somewhere. Too tired to question him, I followed. Soon, we were out on a balcony, overlooking the kingdom. Now my kingdom.

My eyes traveled over it, seeing the new light that was just spreading across it. The stone houses stood exactly how I had remembered them from my childhood, and I felt a sense of peace. Not everything was so different.

A peaceful silence was over everything, and I looked up at Theo, who was looking at me. He pulled me slightly closer, "I love you, Adira," he said simply, looking deep into my eyes.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer until our foreheads were touching, "I love you, too," I whispered.

He kissed me gently, and I kissed him back, closing my eyes.

Everything was going to be okay as long as we were together.

The End.
