I slipped quietly through the corridors of the castle. I needed to get away somewhere quiet and just think. My feet were in dark leather boots, and I was wearing leggings and a short sleeve shirt with a loose shirt on top of it. I didn't expect to meet anyone along the way, so I decided comfort and practicality was best.

I came to the back exit and froze as the sight met my eyes. The five guards were slaughtered and blood was everywhere. It took me several seconds to find my voice.

When I did, I screamed, "Guards!"

After what seemed unbearably long, I heard noises and a group of guards came running towards me. My breath caught as I saw Theo in the group. We hadn't spoken since Father had dragged him away.

They caught up to me and had the same reaction I did when they saw the guards lying there, dead.

Their captain, Gamiel, spoke first, "Theo, James, raise the alarm. Now!" He emphasized, and they turned and ran back the way they had come. I wished Theo had not been ordered to leave. I wanted to talk to him, and somewhat explain or something. But it wasn't to be.

"I will go tell the king." Gamiel continued issuing out orders, "The rest of you escort the princess back to her chambers."

"What?" I was shocked, "I am fine!"

He seemed apologetic, "The king would wish for you to be safe, my Lady." Without giving me anymore chances to object, he turned and left quickly.

I sighed, realizing I had no choice in the matter, "Very well then." I muttered, not caring that it was considered rude for a princess to speak under her breath.

The guards formed into their positions around me and began to walk back to my chambers.

Arriving at my door, they stopped and let me through.

"We will post two guards here, milady, until the crisis is solved." The second-in-command bowed, and two of the guards stationed themselves on each side of my door.

I bowed my head, forgoing a curtsy, "Thank you." Really, I wasn't that thankful for the guards, but I did appreciate their efforts to keep me safe, as unnecessary as they were.

I entered my room, closing the door behind myself.

Despite how many perks it had, being a princess really was a bother.

o.O Hmm. Will Fay and Keary and Adira all run into each other now that they're all in the same place? ^.^ I wonder.
