As that deranged woman pressed the knife down Adira's cheek, I practically lost it. How dare they hurt her! I wanted so badly to reveal myself and kill them all, but I knew that wouldn't work. That man had beaten me before, unfairly, but still had beaten me and I didn't want to risk Adira. I had to come up with a plan first.

So instead, I prayed she would hold on until then. I knew she was a strong woman, but she had never gone through anything like this before.

In all honesty, I had no idea how she would respond. I hoped it would be in determination, but time would tell.

The woman hurting Adira finally removed the knife and wiped Adira's blood off it with her hand. Adira's cheek was a bloody mess and I noticed a single tear fall from her eye, mixing with the blood.

"Still won't open up?" The woman said in a mocking tone.

Adira just glared, refusing to give them any satisfaction. Suddenly, that crazy woman grabbed Adira's hair and forced her head against the cave wall.

"Tell us what we want to know!" The woman growled, her tone conveying her annoyance. And I wondered if Adira was just as confused about what they wanted to know as I was. But if she knew something, she didn't let on.

The woman slammed Adira's head harder against the wall, causing her to let out a whimper. I felt my fingers grip the handle of my sword tighter so that my knuckles were most likely white. I wanted to go out there. I wanted to stop that woman from hurting her!

"Still won't speak?" the woman said, her face close to Adira's. I almost wanted her to lie so at least the woman would leave her alone. But no such luck. When Adira's still didn't answer, the woman slammed her head against the stone even harder and I could hear a crack.

What happened next was almost all a blur. I watched Adira slump over, unconscious, with blood trickling down the back of her head. Then I couldn't stop myself from jumping out and swinging my sword towards the woman.

She turned just as it came down on her and her eyes widened. But my sword didn't make contact. Instead, another smaller blade appeared out of the corner of my eye and stopped me from hitting her. I had forgotten about the man.

Stupid, stupid... stupid.

O.o Yikes! Will Theo be alright? Eh, you're guess is as good as mine... ;)
