From here starts the continuation of the older version of "The Guardian" (chapter 22) but I still advise you to read this from the beginning for changes have taken place. Enjoy~!

Jeremy's PoV
Morning came as always but this time it took longer than usual; normally I would fall asleep and soon the sun rays would fill the room through the gap of the blinds, however this time I had had trouble falling asleep and it was all due to excitement. Excitement, what a fascinating word, but more fascinating was the fact that I was actually feeling it, this feeling of eagerness was something I had long stopped having.
Getting ready to school took less than normal and soon I was walking down the hallway leading to the front door. The door to my father's room was slightly opened allowing me to hear him snoring. Approaching I looked inside to see him, fully dressed up, completely knocked out, half of his body was leaning against the bed while the other was on the floor: for a moment the thought of helping him crossed my mind but just as it did, it soon disappeared as well and I turned my back on him closing the door behind me. I had decided not to bother about him and that was exactly what I was going to do, despite hurting me for abandoning my father it hurt me more to know he had abandoned me.
Crossing the front door I grabbed the small flower pot on the ground and placing it on the wall a few meters away, I finally left for school.
It was still early when I arrived, not that it wasn't normal as I would always make sure I arrived early, but despite that, there were a group of students who had been earlier than me. I placed my gaze on the two girls walking in front of me, they were happily giggling about something I couldn't quite understand and it was in that instance that one of them turned in my direction and I recognized as Laura, a friend of Reyen's; noticing me she muttered something to her friend who nodded and went ahead while she started to walk in my direction.
"Good morning, Jeremy." she greeted me with a smile and her hazel shinning eyes. "Here so early?"
"I'd say the same to you." I retorted and she laughed placing a lock of her blond hair behind her left ear.
"You got me there."
"Do you need something?" feeling she didn't just simply want to greet me, I asked.
"Well... actually there is." her energetic demeanor was replaced by a shyer one. "It's about Reyen." a slight blush tinged her cheeks at the mention of his name.
"What about him?" I asked intrigued.
"It's just that lately he seems to be acting differently." she started as I listened carefully.
I hadn't been with Reyen lately even though we were neighbors so I wasn't really aware of any change within him.
"Do you think he could have gotten a girlfriend?" very quickly she asked looking at me.
"A girlfriend? I highly doubt that." I answered truthfully, not because I thought he was incapable of finding one but rather because I knew he treasured such feeling very much and wouldn't just start dating someone out of the blue.
"Really?"
"Yes." at my unwavering answer her hazel eyes lit up and she smiled returning to her once energetic demeanor.
"Thank you." as soon as she spoke those words relieved I felt my right wrist burning and when I looked down I noticed that the cross from the bracelet was shining.
