"Truth. Hit me, Zane!" David says with a challenging tinge in his voice. Why do I have a bad feeling about this?
"Oh, ok, Braveheart! Let's spice things up then! Who do you have a crush on?" Zane devilishly chuckles and Gabbie loudly gasps beside him. His question catches my attention. Maybe it will be interesting!
"That's not fair! I'm not answering!" David shakes his head, now with a much more serious and slightly ashamed expression.
I bite the inside of my cheek in attempt to not start laughing at his expression, but an unlady-like sound comes from my mouth. He throws me a quick playful glance and I manage to shrug my shoulders before my mind goes blank under the influence of his dark eyes. There's something in them, something captivating that somehow is pulling me closer with an invisible force.
"Guys, what we should make him do if he doesn't want to answer?" Zane loudly says to the others.
"He should spend 7 minutes in Heaven in the bedroom with... Let's see, hmmm..." Heath taps his chin, his eyes roaming through the room. "With Liza!" When he shouts my name my eyes widen in horror.
What the...? I knew that the internal strange feeling I had a few moments ago is promising something bad, but this is getting out of hand. Out of all the people in the room... No, at the party, Heath chose me. Me! Oh, the embaressment! I want the ground beneath me to split in half and devour me whole. With the corner of my eye I see David standing up and reaching his hand towards me. I look at him and feel my cheeks getting warmer. I'm sure I look like a tomato right now.
"It's okay." He reassuringly whispers and I nod, taking his hand. The sudden touch of skin to skin sends electrifying jolts all the way from my fingers down to my toes. The unexpected sensation sends my mind to the space and back, crashing in my chest and making my heart pound faster.
It's weird when somebody you know for almost a week makes you feel like you've known each other for years, saying just two simple words - "It's okay." Even if it sounds very weird and unreal, I actually find it comforting and cute.
As I stand up from the couch everybody cheer, which makes me immediately roll my eyes at their childish behaviour. We head upstairs, David still tightly, but gently holding my hand. He opens the first door, making a step back for me to enter first. I start curiously look around the big room.
A king size bed in the middle, dark grey walls with white stripes on them, beautiful long curtains with big purple flowers fall down on the both sides of two big french doors which lead to a small balcony. It's clean and tidy, so I automatically assume it belongs to Zane's parents, because... Oh, come on! It's a guy we're talking about. I hear David closing the door behind me, the sound making me turn around to see him sitting on the corner of the bed, his magnetic eyes glued on me.
"You can sit anywhere you want. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable." He says and I nod, but for the first time in my life I decide to be brave and try to overcome my anxiety. So I sit on the other corner. "We have a little less than 6 minutes. So, what are you up to lately?" He asks after looking at his phone then at me. For the hundreth time this week my brain shuts down because of him. I might be exaggerating a little, but it sure feels this way. "Look, if you don't want to talk, I'll..."
"No, no, I'm just a little nervous." God, why did I said that?! I give myself a mental facepalm. I look down, avoiding his glare and taking a moment to decide if I'm going to reply or I'll just stand here like a numb statue. The second option surely is promises a weird silence and uncomfortable glances, so I think I'll go with the first one. "Nothing much. Actually this party is the most exciting thing that has happened to me in a very long, long time. My life isn't that interesting actually." I stay silent for a second, thinking of what can I say next. "Do you want to play a game? I'll tell you something about myself, then you're going to tell me something. Okay?"
