November 2nd / Monday
After another boring day at school, I make my way through the crowded halls. As I step outside, I take a deep breath of fresh air. It was raining all day yesterday and the ground is still wet and covered with small puddles everywhere. I see a few kids laughing and jumping in them.
I smile to myself and start walking to the parking lot. I know David is already there, waiting for me and as always, that makes my heart jump in anticipation with every step I take. In a few seconds I see him, leaning on his car talking to someone, but I can't see who is it. As I get closer I gasp, covering my mouth and my eyes start tearing up.
"Mom?!" I shout and she turns around. I take the little space left between us in a hurry. "What are you doing here?" I catch a glimpse of her smile before we hug. "I wasn't expecting you till tomorrow afternoon. Where is dad?" I say, wiping the happy tears from my face wen we pull away from each other.
"Hey, sweetie!" She says, wiping a tear from my cheek that I missed. "We wanted to surprise you and we took an early flight. Your father is at home with our luggage." She wipes another tear of my face. I can't help myself and hug her again.
"I've missed you so much!" I let out a loud sigh.
"I know, sweetie. I've missed you too." She caresses my hair in that calming way only she can. "You didn't tell me how cute you boyfriend is! I like him!" She whispers, quietly enough so David won't hear her and I blush, glancing quickly at him. He just smiles adorably and winks at me in response. My mom makes a step back and turns to him. "David, I hope you don't have any plans for tonight, because I would really like to invite you to dinner at our house?"
"I would love to, Mrs. Koshy!" He smiles and quickly moves his eyes on me.
"Great! Now, I will leave you two alone, because I need to go get the groceries I need." She looks at me and kisses my forehead. "And I'll see you later, sweetie. Bye!"
"Ummm... Bye, mom!" I say, watching her getting in the car. The second she drives off, I feel two warm hands snaking around my waist.
"I've missed you too, princess!" David whispers, placing a soft kiss on my neck and I giggle. "A lot!"
He kisses me over and over again untill he reaches my lips. I was waiting for so long for the touch of his lips and now I feel like my heart is melting into the kiss. I guess this day isn't boring anymore. I slowly pull away and gently grab his face, stroking his cheeks with my thumbs.
"Thank you!" I say quietly, making him frown his eyebrows in confusion.
"What is this for?" He really doesn't understand how happy he just made me. I smile and shrug.
"For being so awesome and not freaking out about meeting my parents." I give him a peck on the lips. "For coming for a family dinner tonight." I kiss him again and he sighs. "For making me so incredibly happy with everything you do. I lo..."
"I love you, princess!" He says it before I could finish, pulling me for another kiss.

"I'm very impressed with David. He is so cute!" My mom says as she places a few plates on the table and I take a quick look at her. "What?! He was so nice and polite today! And when we started talking about you, he had this specific spark in his eyes and a little smile on his face. I can tell he really like you." She smiles.
"Mom, stop it!" I hiss, lowering my head, blushing profusely.
"Or maybe even something more than just a "like"?" She touches my shoulder and I look up. "Liza, sweety, you don't have to be scared to talk with me about your feelings about him. I want you to know that I'm available anytime you want to talk to someone. He is your first boyfriend and it's normal for you to feel..."
"Mom, thank you so much for everything you've said, I really appreciate it, but you are making me very, very uncomfortable right now!" I quickly cut her rambling off before she manages to say anything else that will make me want to move to another planet.
"Ok, ok. But you have to promise me that if you ever feel the need to talk to someone, I'll be the first person on your list. I know that your father and I aren't home very often, but I don't want to miss a single second of your new adult life. I really want to be more than just your "parent"." She emphasises the last word and rolls her eyes, looking disgusted by the sound of it. "I want you to know that you can count on me for whatever you need or want. Understood?" I nod and she smiles again. "I love you so much. Don't ever forget that!" She tucks a strand of hair behind my ear and kisses my forehead.
"I love you too, mom!" I say and hug her. As we pull away, the door bell rings and an instant smile covers my face. "Ummm... I... I..." She giggles at my stuttering.
"You can open the door for start and I'll go get your father." I take a deep breath and start walking. "Liza?" I stop and turn around. "Calm down, sweetie! Everything will be fine, I promise!" She smiles and I smile back.
As I turn back around, I feel the familiar tickling inside my stomach, but something is slightly different tonight. Why am I suddenly so nervous about David coming to dinner? It's not like this is our first date. What if my parents don't like him? I shake my head a little to clear my mind from the bad thoughts and taking a deep breath, swing the door open. I exhale, a wave of relief washes all the doubts and questions from a second before as I see David's wide smile, his dark eyes greeting me, embracing me in their warmth.
