Ch. 14

Esmeralda's POV- September 2016

I pulled my phone out and noticed I had a missed call from Auston, and 3 unread texts from Andres. Just as I was about to respond to Andres' text, my phone began ringing. I could either ignore the call by waiting until the phone stopped ringing, or I could answer the phone call. I decided to ignore my brother's phone call and waited until it stopped ringing. Once it stopped ringing, I quickly looked at Andres' texts. He had made dinner already, and was going to be next door. I sent him a quick text thanking him and smiled at the screen when my phone started ringing. I answered Auston's phonecall and pressed the phone against my ear.

"Hello" I said as I made my way around a group of students.

"Hey, it's Auston"

"I was literally about to call you back right now" I told him.

"By any chance, are you wearing brown boots?"

I looked down at my brown boots and raised an eyebrow.

"I am" I confirmed.

"Your hair is down, and you're wearing a zip up hoodie?"

I looked around and smiled when he laughed.

"I sound like a creep, right?"

"You kinda do" I stated.

"Just keep walking"

"Ok" I said doing as told.

"How was your day?"

"Long" I told him.

"Are you hungry?"

"I'm starving" I admitted.

I smiled at him and ended the phonecall when I spotted him in a car. I opened the door and he laughed

"You hung up on me"

"I did" I said earning a chuckle from him.

I got into the car and quickly slipped off my backpack after I had closed the door.

"How was your day?" I asked as I leaned forward.

He realized what I was doing, so he did the same and gave me a squeeze. I kissed his cheek and pulled away.

"It wasn't as long as yours"

I leaned against my seat and put my seatbelt on. A smell caught my attention and I sniffed earning a smile from Auston.

"I see you smelled the Chinese food"

"You're the best" I told him.

He pulled the car out of the parking spot and I looked at him.

"You had practice today, right?" I asked.

He nodded and glanced at me.

"It was weird not having any of the interns there"

I smiled.

"Yeah, all of us have midterms this week" I stated.

"How was your midterm?"

"I mean I was able to finish it, and I feel pretty confident about it" I said.

"That's good"

I nodded and he smiled.

"Do you mind putting your address?"

He handed me his phone and I quickly typed in the address.

"Are you usually done at this time?"
