Ch. 40

Esmeralda's POV- December 2016

I looked around the half empty room as I pulled my hair up in a bun.

"Are you ready to go?"

I turned to look at Auston and nodded slowly.

"Yeah, I just need to say bye" I told him.

He smiled and nodded slowly.

"I'll take your suitcase down to the car in the mean time"

He gave me a quick peck and reached for my suitcase. Once he was gone I let out a deep breath and slowly made my way out of the room. I closed the door behind me and walked to the living room.

"This is in no way a goodbye, it's more of a see you later" I said.

Andres smiled and stood up.

"Damn right it is"

He pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my forehead.

"I'm invited to your graduation, right?"

I looked up at him.

"You won't be home by then?" I asked.

He shook his head.

"I'm visiting family in San Diego"

I smiled.

"Well I am a short drive away" I told him.

"That's good to know"

He placed his hands on my shoulder as he pulled away from the hug.

"Take care of yourself"

"Eat lots of Chinese food for me" I stated.

He smiled.

"Always"

A throat was cleared and I smiled at Gael.

"Who am I going to eat junk food with?"

"I'm always a facetime call away" I replied.

He chuckled.

"Don't forget about us normal people"

"Never" I answered.

He pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my cheek.

"I expect daily pictures of your dog and cat"

"Of course" I said.

He smiled and stepped back as Alyssa pulled me into a hug.

"I'm going to miss you so much"

"I'll miss you too" I told her she tightened the hug.

"Who's going to do my makeup?"

"Practice makes perfect" I stated.

She laughed and pulled away. I frowned as she sniffled and looked at me with watery eyes.

"You promised" I reminded.

She laughed and wiped her face.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think I was going to get along with you so well"

I smiled.

"I'm a great roommate, right?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Let me know if you're ever in Toronto"

"The house I live in is small, but the doors are always opened at my parents house" I told her.

She nodded.

"Did your brothers ever find out about you and Auston?"

"Oh yea, they're actually going to meet him in 3 weeks" I answered.

Auston had a small break and he decided he was coming to LA. It would be during the first week of class, so I had lots of time for him.

"They're going to love him"

"I sure hope so" I said as she grabbed my hands.

I squeezed her hands and smiled.

"Invite me to yours and Gael's wedding, yeah?" I asked.

They both laughed and I turned when I heard a light knock on the door. The door opened and Auston stepped inside.

"Ready?"

I nodded and turned to look at Alyssa.

"This isn't a goodbye, it's a see you later" I told her.

She nodded and let go of my hand as she began crying.

"I'm going to miss you, a lot"

I smiled as she pulled me into another hug.

"Don't forget about me, ok?"

"I'll never forget about you" I said.

She sniffled and pulled away.

"Travel safe, let me know when you get to LA. Ok?"

I nodded and she looked at Auston who rubbed his neck.

"We should go so we can drop off the stuff at a donation center" I stated.

He nodded and I looked at Andres, Gael and Alyssa.

"I'll see you guys later" I told them.

I slowly stepped back and turned around to look at Auston who offered me his hand.

"Bye"

I waved at them as I followed Auston out. I closed the door on my way out and Auston let out a deep breath.

"I am not looking forward to tomorrow"
