Ch. 19

Esmeralda's POV- September 2016

I glanced up when the door to the room opened. Andres offered me a smile as he leaned against the doorway.

"Dinner should be ready in a couple of minutes"

I nodded.

"Russia won, 3-0"

I scrunched up my nose and glanced at Auston who was fast asleep on my bed.

"Así que él no habla español" (So does he not speak spanish?)

I looked at Andres and smiled.

"Be nice" I warned.

"I'm always nice"

He looked at Auston and grinned.

"Parece que la belleza durmiente está despertando" (Looks like sleeping beauty is waking up)

Auston shifted on his back and stretched.

"I might not speak Spanish, but I do understand it"

I laughed as I looked at Andres who smiled and shrugged.

"How long have I been asleep?"

"About an hour" I replied as I turned my attention back to Auston.

Auston nodded and sat up.

"You finished doing all your laundry"

"I did, I finally have clean jeans" I told him.

He chuckled and I turned around when I heard my name being called out. Alyssa smiled and handed me my phone.

"George is calling you"

I thanked her as she handed me the phone and answered the call.

"Hello" I said.

"Hey, check your email"

I sat next to Auston who was looking down at his phone.

"I'll call you back" I told George.

I ended the call just as he was about to start complaining.

"Russia won"

I squeezed Auston's shoulder as he looked at me.

"So what team did you get reassigned to?"

"I have not checked" I said as I opened my email.

I leaned my head on his shoulder as I opened the email from Jake.

"Canada" I told him once I finish reading the email.

I looked at him and smiled when he scrunched up his nose.

"Do you have to wear their gear?"

I laughed.

"I sure hope not" I admitted.

I stood up and made my way to the closet.

"I actually got a lot of gear" I stated as I grabbed a duffle bag.

I set the bag on my bed and pulled out some gear.

"They gave us gear with the World Cup of Hockey logo, so I'll probably just wear that" I said.

"All of these things have tags on them still"

"Jake went a little overboard when he ordered gear for me" I told him.

He laughed and nodded.

"You'll eventually wear it"

I nodded.
