I listened to Alone Together on repeat while writing this
~~~~~~~~~~~Peridot looked around. For some reason everything felt... different. It was an open, vast field, why did it feel so strange? The grass was green, the sun was high in the sky, Peridot was in the middle of nowhere-
Wait, how did she get here? Peridot took a deep breath, walking around the vast field. There was a small breeze, and Peridot suddenly felt a presence close to her. She turned around, and found a figure standing in the distance. It seemed to be a girl, with short blue hair. She had bangs that covered her forehead, and she seemed to be wearing a dark blue sundress. The girl was sitting with her back to a tree, and she was looking back to Peridot with what Peridot thought were blue eyes. Her skin was tanned, but Peridot couldn't make out any other features due to the fact that the girl was too far away.
Peridot suddenly felt everything fading before she could run over to the figure.
-----------
It had been a year since this meeting had happened. Ever since then, Peridot sometimes saw the same girl in her dreams. Usually, she saw the girl later in her dreams, suddenly appearing in the middle of Peridot doing some wacky thing. On the occasions Peridot went to sleep late, she would run into what she assumed was the girl's dreams, but Peridot wasn't even sure the girl was real yet.
One day, Peridot has lost track of time playing video games, and slept way later than she usually did. When she fell asleep and her dreams started, she gasped.
Peridot saw the girl, crying, hiding from a large monstrous figure. It moved to kill her, but Peridot ran in. She stood in front of the blue haired girl with the sundress, holding up her fists. The figure disappeared, leaving the girl and Peridot sitting in a dark abyss.
"Who are you?" Peridot heard the girl whisper. The girl hugged herself, looking up at Peridot suspiciously.
"A person. Are you alive, too?" Peridot answered, sitting down with her, still keeping a far distance between them.
"Yes. But how are you in my dream? I've never seen you before."
"I.." Peridot paused, looking at her pale hand. "I don't know."
"Well, we're both real people, right?"
"Mm, which is why I'm so confused as to why we're in a dream together, unless one of us is a fake, or we really are connected in our dreams." Peridot looked up at the girl, into her blue eyes.
"Well, if we've been doing this for about a year, I don't see why we'd stop, so here." The girl stood up, smiling a bit, gesturing for Peridot to stand also. "I'm Lapis."
"Peridot."
"So.." Lapis smiled at Peridot, making Peridot turn away. "Wanna chat?""Woah, you're from LA?" Lapis asked, her eyes widening. Peridot nodded.
"Why?"
"I live close to New York City!"
"Wait, really?" Peridot asked. Lapis nodded her head in return, laying down, her blue hair going everywhere. "Do you ever want to meet?" But before Peridot's question could be answered, Peridot felt everything fading.Peridot whipped awake, and she immediately felt her curious mood go away. Her mom, Emerald, was calling for her. Peridot got up and got ready for her day, the whole day filled with thoughts about the blue haired girl in a sundress. A blue haired girl in a sundress named Lapis.
That night, Peridot was too overflowed with work from school and her boss Yellow Diamond to sleep. She stayed up all night with with the help of stress, coffee, and suffering. The work Yellow Diamond assigned her was incredibly boring and hard, but Peridot was willing to do it for someone she admired. Peridot noticed herself starting to doze off, but she wouldn't allow it. She had to get the work done. Even when Peridot finished her work, she had gone over to her bed and tried to game.
