This is their pirate AU, Lapis is a mermaid, Peridot's a pirate. In mine though, Peridot's just a regular human.

(Don't mind the English, Treker402 isn't a native English speaker)

Universe: Mermaid AU

Peridot walked along the beach as the sun rose, sighing. It was strange, really. The thought of swimming terrified her; Peridot was not good in the water. For some reason though, the ocean also calmed Peridot. She loved to gaze off into the ocean, watching the waves crash onto the sand. It really made no sense; Peridot was a person who love tidy things and hated chaos, yet here she was, loving that very thing about the ocean.

All of a sudden, a dot appeared in the distance. Peridot had her glasses on, why wouldn't she, she was blind without them, but she still squinted to try to make out what it was. It was a shadow in the water, quickly moving in the water towards the shore. Peridot realized much too late that the shadow was headed straight for her.

The creature suddenly jumped out of the water, landing right at Peridot's feet, the figure's fish tail still touching the water as it panted.

Wait.

What?

Peridot glared down at the figure. It had a human top half, looking like a girl's, with a fish tail for it's bottom half. It couldn't be, could it? Peridot bit her lip. A mermaid.

The creature groaned to grab Peridot's attention. She snapped her head down, remembering there was a creature close to her. Squinting her eyes to examine, she noticed a few red gashes, bleeding out blue blood. Wait. Blood?

Oh shit. Peridot rushed over to the girl, shoving her ear buds in her pocket, and tapped the mermaid's shoulder.
"H-hello?" Peridot quietly muttered. The girl moaned. "Are you okay?"
"Oh yes, of course I'm fine," the mermaid replied, and Peridot sensed a tone of sarcasm. "You know, I really should be," the mermaid mumbled, probably not realizing the human above her could hear her. "After a while I should be used to Jasper tearing me to shreds." Peridot cleared her throat. The mermaid sighed, and turned her head away toward the ocean so she wasn't speaking into the ground. "Yeah, okay, hello. I don't mean to be rude and sudden, that's Jasper's thing - oh shit she's wearing off on me-" the girl seemed to be about to say something else, but got back on track when she heard a confused grunt, "can I rest up at your place?" Peridot sighed.

Did Peridot want to bring this girl into her house to rest up? She seemed brash, and rude, but then again, wasn't the girl bleeding out?

Oh yeah, she's bleeding. Peridot probably should've remembered that faster.
"Yeah, of course. My house isn't far away. But uh.." Peridot trailed off, looking at the mermaid's tail.
"I can take care of the tail, if that's what you're thinking," the mermaid chuckled, and oh no, it was a melodious sound. Peridot swallowed, and mentally slapped herself. Not now, gay Peridot. A faint blue light appeared; her tail was glowing.
