Summer Love

chapter 10

3:30pm******

After down and out, my cabin did small activities like tag, disc golf, and other small things like that. At 4:00pm the whole camp goes down to the beach for free swim until five. My cabin was getting ready to go down. The annoying girls were getting water proof make-up on while Emma, Flora, Riley and I were waiting outside for them. We were sitting at the picnic bench in front of our cabin watching other cabins go by to the stairs down the beach. The Pine Cabin was walking by and I saw my brother talking to a few boys in his cabin. I then saw Ethan walking behind all his boys. He sees the girls and I and as secretly as he can winks at me. Unfortunately, some one of the girls saw. And it wasn't Riley.

"Who was Quantum winking to?" Emma asked.

"It looked like he was looking at Riley....older Riley." Flora answered. They both looked at me and I tried to keep a straight face.

"Is there something going on between you two? Or does he have a thing for you?" Flora asked.

I shook my head. If I was to say anything they would find out right away that I am lying.

"Do you guys really think Quantum would actually risk his job just so he can flirt with Riley? He likes his job and if Riley ever wants a chance of working here she wouldn't purse him either and let people know about it." Riley says from beside me. I look at her with a hurt face but when I look at her face you can tell she didn't mean any of it.  I smile at her and look to the others. They nod in understanding.

Finally the other girls are ready and we make our way down stairs. Once we get down there I put my towel down and look for Ethan.  I find him standing with my brother at tether ball. I walk over to them and say hi.

"Hi, Ri. How was your first day so far?" My brother asked. I smiled at him.

"It was great. My cabin keeps forgetting about me and I have made three kind of friends named Riley, Flora and Emma. How about you?"

"It is amazing. I made some friends in my cabin, but honestly I don't really like the campers in my cabin much. The good thing is that Maddox, Camden, and the rest from pine two years ago are here but they are in Tamarack. Why couldn't I be in Tamarack?"

"Because if you were," Ethan starts, "I wouldn't have you in my cabin and I would be all alone in the cabin we are in."

I smile. Ethan and Wyatt are so close which could go one or two ways when we tell him about us. He could either be really okay with it because Ethan and him are friends, or he could be really upset thinking that Ethan betrayed him because he trusted him. He would also be very betrayed with me because I am his sister. I start to freak out a little thinking about it but I try to remember what Ethan told me in the shower before. Calm down and take deep breaths. I start to calm down and look up at Ethan.

"Quantum, want to go in the water with me? Wyatt?" I ask.

Ethan nods but Wyatt shakes his head. "It's to cold in the water. I'll go throw stones with Camden and Maddox."

He runs off with Ethan telling him to check in with Sirius first. I look up at Ethan and hold out my arm. He loops his arm with mine and we walk into the water. Its freezing cold and I start to squeal. Ethan looks at me and starts laughing.

"What are you laughing at? It's cold." I say to him. He lets go of my arm and jumps in. The splash hits me and I squeal even louder. He resurfaces and looks at me. I am shivering and wrapping my arms around myself. He comes close to me and grabs my waist pulling me onto him. I go on his back so people want think anything of it. I wrap my arms as tight as I can on him trying to warm myself up. He walks around first to make sure all the boys in his cabin who are swimming are okay. Then he goes over to a group of counselors I don't really know. The ones I do know are Boto, Arctic, and Titan. They start talking and I jump off of Ethan. I go to the side of Ethan and hug him and rest my head on his shoulder. Boto sees this and gives me a dirty look.

"Quantum, who is that and why is she hugging you like that." She asks.

Ethan looks at her. "This is Riley, she is in the Huckleberry cabin. She is fifteen but she ahs very high anxiety. She saw me yesterday when she dropped her brother off at my cabin. I started talking to her and found out what's wrong and when her parents came over I told them I would watch her. Her parents said that once someone takes on that responsibility she kind of latches herself on them, not totally literally, because she really trusts them."

Boto smirks and nods her head. "Yea, okay Quantum."

"You don't believe me Boto. Fine that's okay. By the way stop trying to get with me. Its no going to happen. I'm in a relationship. I have been for months."

She looks shocked and Ethan walks away with me following him.

We go far away from everyone else and I turn him around.

"What's wrong Ethan?"

"Nothing. It's just that Alex (Boto) has been trying to get with me since we were in Volunteer of Kamp together about four years ago. I have never liked her like that but she never let it go. S o I guess when she saw you she thought exactly what's happening between us so I had to make that cover story. I am sorry Riley for telling her about your anxiety and kind of over exaggerating it as well."

I look up at him. I pull his head down and kiss him very lightly. "You had to do it Ethan. She wasn't going to let it go. The only thing wrong is that I can't believe she bought what you said."

"Why do you say that Riley?" He asked.

"Because she was my counselor last year so she knows how I act and what my anxiety is like."
