Summer Love

chapter 26

Arctic, Ethan and I were on the cabin hill almost to the cabin.

"So why are you her counselor? Shouldn't she be in a girls cabin?" Arctic asked still a little confused.

"So the main reason is because her old cabin kept forgetting her behind. Also she has bad anxiety and I told her parents that I would watch over her. Because she was always alone I was scared that she would get anxious and have an anxiety attack. So I went to John about it and he said that she can move into the Pine cabin if we changed some things mostly where she will get dressed. Now when we need to change, her and I grab our clothes before the boys come in and we go to the bathroom and change." Ethan explained. Arctic nodded his head.

I walked a little ahead so I could go and grab my PJs and put them in my bag. I got to the cabin, grabbed mine and Ethan's PJs and our toothbrushes. I also found Ethan's toothpaste and quickly grabbed it putting everything in my bag. I also grabbed my blanket. I ran back out to meet Ethan and Arctic outside. We then made our way to the Meadow for the campfire.

Once we got there we found a spot for the three of us. I sat in the middle and leaned my head on Ethan's shoulder. There were only a few songs left and then we had to leave. We got up and found our cabin and started making our way to the Lodge. I pulled on Ethan's shirt.

"Quantum, I have to go to the nurse." I say quietly.

"I can take her Quantum. I can take her to get changed after and brush her teeth." Arctic offered. Ethan nods his head. I open my bag take out his clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste.

"What about you Ri? You didn't bring your toothpaste." Ethan said.

"I have mine." Arctic said. I nod. Ethan starts walking to the Lodge while Arctic and I walk to the nurse. We get there and have to wait for a few kids.

"So how's your week Riley?" Arctic asked.

"It's been great. I like being in my cabin and I've been having fun at the beach and the high ropes. I got hurt this morning at GaGa ball but I'm better now. It doesn't hurt anymore but the nurse wants to check it and I have to get my medicine anyways." I say. He nods.

It's finally our turn and we walk in. I tell the nurse my name and that I am here for my medicine and for her to check my back. She gives me my medicine and then tell me to lift my shirt up. I couldn't get my shirt all the way so Arctic helped me. Once she said it was good we got up and left.

We went to the Lodge so I could quickly change and brush my teeth. When I done we left the Lodge.

All of a sudden there was a big rumble sound. I started to panic. 'Don't worry Riley, it's probably not a storm. It's going to be okay.' I said to myself but then a flash of light came out of no where.

"Looks like a storm." Arctic said. I froze. I literally could not move. I was terrified. I couldn't breathe and I was starting to cry. Arctic saw that I stopped walking and saw me crying.

"Riley? What's wrong?" Arctic asked worried. I couldn't answer. I couldn't even stand anymore so I fell to my knees. It then started to pour. Arctic kneeled down and grabbed me so I wouldn't fall all the way. He asked me again what was wrong.

"Storm." I shuddered out. Arctic's face dawned with understanding. He also figured it was a bad idea to stay out here so he wrapped my arms around his neck and scooped me up bridal style. He quickly walked to the cabin.

 He made it up the ramp but couldn't get the door open so he yelled for Ethan. Ethan opened the door saw me and got out of the way. Arctic put me down on the ground at Ethan's bed and sat right beside me. Ethan sat down quickly sat on the other side of me. They both grabbed one of my hands.

"Riley can you hear me?" Ethan asked. I nodded. "Okay I want you to do what I tell you to do? Okay? Can you do that?"

"Is that Riley? Quantum what happened to her?" he asked. Then a louder rumble of thunder came. I squeaked and hid myself in Arctic's chest. He wrapped his arm around me and rubbed my back.

"Riley it's Arctic, I need you to sit back up and listen to Quantum. Can you do that?"

I got back up and listened for Ethan.

"Ok Riley. I need you to breathe in and then out when I say so. So breathe in now." I breathed in through my nose. "Now breathe out with your mouth." I breathed out. It went like that for a few more minutes until my breathing was normal. I finally was out of my scared state and looked around. I saw Ethan and grabbed for him. I put my head in his chest and wrapped my hands around his chest. I cried. I couldn't stop. It was like the loud rain pattering on the ceiling of the cabin.

Then I heard singing. I got up a little and saw Arctic singing Carry On My Wayward Son. Ethan started singing softly too. They sang the chorus twice and then stopped. Arctic started to get up to go back to his room but I grabbed his arm.

"S-S-Stay please." I stumbled out. He looked at me softly and nodded. Ethan picked me up and put me in his bed. He then grabbed extra blankets and pillows. He placed them on the floor. He put me in the middle and then him and Arctic laid beside me. I fell asleep to Ethan rubbing my hand he was holding. The last thing I heard was Arctic saying goodnight to the boys and them repeating it back.
