chapter 35

****7:00am****

I woke up to someone lightly shaking me. I look to see Ethan shaking me. I freak out for a second because it isn't the cabin. All of sudden I remember everything that happened early in the morning.

"Riley, the nurse is here to ask a few questions about what happened. Do you want me to leave for you to have a private conversation?" He asks as I sit up. I shake my head and cuddle up to Ethan.

"Okay, Riley it's Amelia. I just have a few questions to find out what happened last night. Firstly, do you feel sick anymore?" I shake my head. I lean to Ethan's ear and whisper something.

"She says that she is getting really bad cramps but she doesn't feel like she is going to throw up anymore. She also probably wants me to mention that she usually has bad anxiety so when that happens she gets scared to talk. That's why she is whispering answers into my ear." Ethan explains. The nurse nods and turns back to me.

"Secondly, what do remember from last night when you ran to the bathroom?"

I whisper to Ethan.

"She remembers running to the bathroom. She remembers trying to sit up in the bathroom but feeling like her head weighed a lot. She says she also remembers telling me to take the pain from her but me saying that I couldn't. Lastly she remembers coming here and going to sleep." Ethan repeated.

"Okay. Riley is there anything else that has happened in the last day that might have been able to cause this?" She asked. Without even whispering to Ethan he replies right away.

"She is on her period. She went to the bathroom with me before bed and realized that and had a panic attack about not having any products and having a hard time telling me about it. But we figured it out."

She nodded. "Riley what are your normal side effects when you get your period?"

I answered this time. "I usually get really bad cramps. I get heat flashes and big migraines. I feel sick usually the first day where I skip school that day. But not usually that bad." I mutter just loud enough for Amelia to hear. She nodded.

"Okay. So I do believe that this was caused by your period. You seem to get pretty severe side effects. Does your mother ever have a hard time?" I nodded.

"Yea she had to go to the hospital once it was so bad." I reply.

"Okay. So I believe that you are the same as her then. If what you are telling me is correct then you shouldn't get that again this week coming up. You can't really do anything to get this to go away. But if you feel better now then I can give you medicine to get rid of the cramps for a bit and you can make your way to your cabin to change with Quantum." I nod my head in understanding.

"Also Riley, I think it would be a good idea to start taking birth control pills to help calm down your period. Maybe go to your doctors before your period ends and get them to start once your finished." She walks out of the room leaving Ethan and I in the room.

"Riley maybe I can take you. Tell your parents about what's going on or I can and we can go Sunday or Monday. Anyways lets get to the cabin and get dressed. You have to "change" again right?" I nod again.

We get up walking into the main room to get medicine for me. I take it and we leave the Nurse's saying thank you and see you to Amelia. We then walk over to cabin path and to the cabin. Once we reach the cabin I change into my black short shorts with pockets in them and Ethan's Ancaster high sweater. I put my black bandana on my head and slip on my flip flops, grab my bag shoving products in it and grabbing my tooth brush and tooth paste. I then see if Ethan is ready noticing that he is and we make our way to cabin hill.

Once there we go our separate ways as I go to the bathroom, change, wash my hands and brush my teeth and leave the bathroom. Ethan and I then quickly make our way to the chapel being ten minutes late. We sit beside  my old cabin realizing that those were the only seats left. I sit beside Riley with Ethan on the other side of me.

Riley gives me this look asking what happened. I give her the look as to say that I'll tell her later. Chapel ends and I move over to the side with Riley and Ethan. Riley told Pond that Ethan is going to walk us there because he needs to talk to Riley. Pond let her go and we were waiting until everyone left so we can talk behind everyone else.

Finally everyone was ahead and we started walking.

"What happened? You both look super tired." Riley observed.

"Yeah, I went to bed last night after what happened in the bathroom and woke up at 3 feeling really sick. I ran to the bathroom in the lodge and threw up. I then couldn't sit up anymore and lied down. Ethan I guess followed me and helped me up. I puked again and then he helped me up, helped me wash up a bit and walk to the nurse's office. She got us to sleep for the rest of the night there. In the morning she asked me some questions and in the end she came to a conclusion that it was a side effect from my period. Because I usually have severe side effects she thinks this one was just another bad one that I have. She said that when I get back home I  should get on the birth control pill to control my period a bit more." I explained to Riley. She nodded.

"Are you guys going to nap at down and out today because you guys look like literal zombies." Riley said. I laughed.

"I don't usually take naps. My brain doesn't really understand naps because it has to be moderately dark for my brain to understand to sleep and even then. But I guess I'm going to try. What about you Ethan?" I ask look over to him. He nodded with a grin on his face.

"Yeah, I am tired. Not that you should feel guilty for waking me up and getting me to help you Riley because I will always be there to help but I would really like to catch up on the sleep I missed from the adventures of last night." He explains. I smile and jump up to kiss his cheek. We link arms and the three of us quickly walk to catch up to everyone for breakfast.
