Summer Love

chapter 27

Birds were chirping. Meaning that it was morning. I didn't want to open my eyes though. So instead I reached a little forward and felt hair. I opened my eyes to see that my hand was touching Ethan's hair. I looked around a little bit to realize that I was on the ground wrapped in blankets with Ethan and Arctic sleeping on either side of me. I looked at Ethan's watch to see that it was 7:50am.

Wait what????

That means we missed chapel. They could get in trouble if someone found out. I go closer to Ethan and quietly whisper in his ear.

"Ethan." I say. "Ethan it's 7:50. We missed chapel."

Ethan slowly woke up and saw my face. He leaned up a bit and kissed my lips softly. I knew that we had to get going but I haven't kissed Ethan for a bit so I really wanted this. I opened my mouth giving Ethan entrance. He gently pushed the blankets away from the two of us and grabbed for my waist. He then pulled me closer to his body, while I wrapped my arms around his neck. He let go of my waist moving his hands up to my cheeks.

All of a sudden we heard someone clear their throat and we jumped apart. We looked over to the sound and saw Arctic with wide but still sleepy eyes.

"Shit." I whisper. I let go of Ethan and wrap my arms around my knees pulling them to my chest putting my head down on them. I look slightly over to Ethan to see concern in his eyes. He knows he screwed up. We both did. We shouldn't have kissed knowing that Arctic was in the same room with us no matter if he was sleeping or not.

"Collin, I can explain...." Ethan said but Arctic stopped him.

"Wait. I think I can figure this out myself. You guys are either dating or just doing this for fun. I am hoping for the first one but either way this is wrong. Ethan you can lose your job. Also Riley is a minor to you. She is only fifteen. I don't even know if she has ever had a boyfriend. Even if she has, it doesn't explain why you guys are doing this." Arctic explains.

I speak up. "Arctic, I love him." He looks at me with pure disgust. I disappointed the only other person I looked up to at camp. "I love him. You can't stop it, he can't stop it and I can't stop it. I've never had a boyfriend but he is the best. He never pushes me and he is always there for me. Sure he doesn't know everything about me yet but that's what this is about. Over time he will know me better and better. Arctic if you really care about me you will accept this and not say anything please." I plead with him. He can't get Ethan in trouble. This is his job and I am not letting him getting in trouble because of me.

Arctic shakes his head. "Riley you don't understand. This can be considered illegal. Especially if you guys ever decide to do anything extra. You guys can't be together."

"It sounds like there is another reason you won't keep quiet Collin. I mean your reasons are valid, I'll give you that, but it sounds you have a reason that your not telling us." Ethan challenges.

Arctic looks at me with worry in his eyes. Ethan was right. It is written all over Arctic's face. He sighs. He then gets up and walks over to me. He bends down, grabs my face and places his lips on mine. I open my eyes in shock. And before I think about it his lips are shoved off. I look to see Arctic on the ground holding his jaw with Ethan standing in front of me holding his hand. I start to cry.

I don't know why I did. I mean this shouldn't be happening. Arctic shouldn't know about. He shouldn't have kissed me and Ethan shouldn't have punched him. I love both of them in different ways. I love Arctic like a brother. He's known me for a long time. He has been there for me since we met. I love Ethan like he is a drug. I love him because he is my one and only. Yeah I get that we have only known and been together for less than a week but it feels like we have been together forever. I can't think of anyone else to be with.

The boys look over at me and Ethan bends down. He tries to hold me but I push him away.

"Ethan you punched him. I love him and you punched him. He is family. He is my family. I love you but you go and punch my family. I don't care if he killed me you don't hurt my family." I say through my tears. I get up and go over to Arctic. I lift his head up and check his jaw. A bruise starts to form. I take his hand and drag him to the door. I look back at Ethan who has his head down.

"I'm going to take Arctic to the nurse. I would go to breakfast if I were you. Tell anybody who asks that Arctic hurt himself and I said I would take him. I'll find out where I need to be after." I said to Ethan before opening the door and leaving with Arctic.

We hold hands on the way to the nurse. We walk in complete silence the whole way there. Once we get inside the nurse rushes over.

"What happened to you? It looks like you got punch." She said upon seeing his face.

"Yeah, I was walking in to the cabin and I got hit by a shoe. One of the boys threw their shoe not knowing any better." He explained.

She nods. She then told him to just hold the ice pack up to his jaw and to go lie down in his bed for a bit. We thank her and make our way to Harmony house where his room is.

"I'm sorry Riley. I like you. I had to show that I am an option too. But obviously it was a lost cause. I had to get that kiss in though." he said.

"I love you Arctic. But not like you think. I think of you like a brother. That's it. I'm sorry but your even older than Ethan and it would be a bigger problem. Ethan just turned 18. Just promise that you aren't going to tell anybody what going on. Just keep it to yourself." I say. He nods.

We get to Harmony House. He waves to me and walks in side. I head back to the cabin.
