Dinner time******

At this part most kids would have started making friends. They would start talking about what they are like at home, what they like and what they hope to do at camp. Dinner on the first night is still trying to get to know the people you will be living with for the next week. Not for me though. This is the time where I look for the table my brother is sitting, for two reasons. One, because I like to know where my brother is at camp. I feel more protective of my brother at camp. I think its because my parents aren't here to watch him so I feel the need to watch him and make sure there is nothing. The other reason is for Quantum. I haven't even read the note he gave me. I am probably going to ask to go to the washroom and I'll read it there.

"Pond, can I go to the washroom?" I ask quietly because I don't actually want to talk.

"Yup. Do you know where it is? I can go with you if you want?"

"I know where it is. I'll be fine."

I push in my chair and walk straight in the bathroom glancing at Quantum when I pass by. I go into the first stall and take out the small piece of paper from my gym bag I brought from home.

MEET ME AT THE GLENN AT PRIME TIME - Q

The glenn? The glenn is dark at prime time, but I guess if he really wants to talk then I'll sacrifice it. Maybe he likes me like I like him. Then again maybe that's not gong to happen I mean he looks eighteen and I am turning fifteen. I put the piece of paper back in my bag and exit the washroom. When I leave the washroom I put my gaze on the Pine cabin table. The first person I see is the tall counselor with glasses that gave me the note. He catches my eyes and I give him a knowing look. He smiles and looks down blushing. I walk towards my cabins table with my head down.

When I sit down the girls beside me ask me questions.

"How old are you Riley?"

"How many years have you been here before?"

"Want to be friends with us?"

"Hold on," I yell, "I am fifteen and I am going into Grade 10. I have been going here for eight years. Sure I will be friends with you guys but you guys have to promise not to be like the other girls in our cabin because they are really annoying."

The three girls nod.

"I am Riley," says the girls with dirty blonde hair right next to me, "I am in grade eight and I have come here for as long a I can remember. I agree with Riley. The other girls are annoying. They are like the popular kids of the school."

The other two were named Emma and Flora. Flora was going into grade eight like Riley and Emma was going into grade nine. They didn't really like the other girls of the cabin. They were all kind of cool. I wanted to tell them about the note I got but I didn't want to trust them to fast. I always have a habit of doing that and then it comes back to bite me in the ass.

After dinner was over we had to stat walking back to the cabin to get ready for games. Riley and I walked together and talked about all the counselors we knew from previous years.

"I know we aren't supposed to talk about boys but is there any here you find interesting?" she asked with a smile on her face.

"Ummmm..." I muttered. I mean I don't know if I should tell her. I've only started talking to her for two hours, and I know having a crush on and voicing it about a counselor is bad here.

"No I don't think so." I finally say.

"I don't believe you, but I will get to the bottom of it." she whispers and walks faster towards the cabin.

Once I get inside I put on my running shoes, bug spray and an oversize sweater. I walk out with Riley, Emma, and Flora. We go sit in the corner near the Mulberry cabin. I opened my gym bag to get my chap stick that I carry around everywhere.

"What's that?"

I look up to see Riley picking up the note. Riley opened it and read it. before she could say anything I put my hand over her mouth and drag her away from the others.

"Who is Q?" She asks.

"If you promise not to tell a soul I will tell you."

She nods.

" Okay. Q is Quantum. The second year counselor in the Pine cabin. I have a crush on him and he might feel the same way. Please don't say anything and if you can help me by distracting Pond and Shell while I meet with Quantum that would be great and I would love you forever."

She looks at me like I am crazy. She then smiles and nods.

"Okay, I'll help you but you need to keep posted on this relationship."

I nod. I hug her and we go back to the corner. Speaking of the devil, Quantum is talking to the other two at our corner. Riley and I walk up and I lean against Quantum.

"Quantum, what's up?"

"I was wondering if I could sit with you guys but these two don't really know who I am so they said no."

I laugh. "Yes, you can sit with us. Guys this is Quantum. He is one of the counselors in the Pine cabin."

He sits down. Riley and I sit down and I lean on Quantum's shoulder. I look up at Quantum and smile. I nuzzle my head into his shoulder and start to drift off thinking about the week.
