Our teacher smiled as the class stared at her.
She looked rather young, around her early twenties I would say.
However, magicians' ages are difficult to tell.
That was because mages stopped aging around their twenties.
Both my parents still looked as old as when they first married, twenty-one.
Though those who lost their magic would age.
Would I look older than my parents one day?
"Something bothering you, again?" asked Alex.
"I'm fine," I assured him.
Gods, the guy sure was a worrywart.
"I've been wondering the same thing," Jason said, giving me a concerned look.
It was nice having friends like these two but at the same time it was annoying.
Couldn't they just give me some space?
Especially Alex.
He barely met me and already acted as if we knew each other since childhood.
"You two should stop worrying."
Our teacher smiled at us as she walked up to the board.
"'A life of lies is a fatal one.
He who lives shall know.
To lie means to cheat oneself.
Even if it means to protect another.'"
"I'm not lying!" I snapped at her.
The woman chuckled.
"I'm not accusing you of anything."
She pulled a book from one of the nearby shelves.
"That's the poem that we'll be reading today."
