Mother closed her eyes. "True, but if we hadn't entrusted him in that person's care then we might've been able to reach out to him. Show him that power wasn't everything."

"Power is important, though."

"True, but what is the point of power if one loses everything? Power should be to protect."

"I agree," Jason said. "If only father thought that way, then none of this would ever have happened."

Father nodded. "Your father, he's my son's teacher, is he not? The same man who took my powers?"

"Huh? Wait, you hired the one who stole your powers to teach my brother? And why him and not me?"

"You're better not having been taught by him, he would've stolen your magic already," Jason said. "My dad... seeks to become god-like."

"He is god-like already," Olivia's mother said. "So is my husband. It was a battle between god-like beings that created this new world."
