I attempted to perform my tasks but I couldn't get the nurse's words out of my head.
He said that my magic was barely accessible to me.
Thalia absorbed most of my available magic.
The rest seemed to be missing.
Of course, I knew that wasn't the case.
Father's seal was the cause of most of my magic barely registering.
Still, what my dad didn't seal was mostly taken away.
My future as a magician had blurred.
A soft hand touched my own.
I turned and saw Alex.
His focus was on his work but it seemed that his mind wasn't.
Was he reading my thoughts or was he just good at telling the emotions of others?
I freed my hand from his.
My face felt like it was on fire.
Alex turned.
His face flushed as soon as he saw mine.
"Sorry. I just felt that you were anxious."
I peered back down at my mostly empty notebook.
"How can you tell?" I whispered.
"You're as easy to read as Elliot is."
Elliot glanced up at the mention of his name.
His eyes lingered on our once interwoven hands as if puzzled.
He quickly looked away as soon as he noticed me staring.
Was he jealous?
