The group of 4 met regularly and discussed with one another ways to get into Paradise, ways to save their friends. Occasionally, they had to stop meeting once some people had overheard. At one point, an official heard them and they got reprimanded for it. The question still remained.
What was Paradise?
The dean of the school held them back to talk with them, addressing Guardian mostly, as he'd shown the most attachment to Silencer. The human, who's only malformation was that he had whiskers and was blind, told them that Paradise was just a place for those who needed extreme help. Historia saw almost right through his lie. After they'd been released, she confronted the other 3.
"There's something he's not telling us..."
"You noticed it too?" asked Fox. Historia nodded, with Guardian and Vines following.
"The only way to get there is by failing, but they'll know we're doing it on purpose," the plant-growing boy had said.
There was a long pause as they let that sink in.
"What if we snuck in?" Fox suggested. The rest seemed OK with it, so they began planning once more. Soon enough, they had outfits and ways to disguise themselves within the environment. These humans teaching them had to be so ignorant as to think they wouldn't do this.
Oh, but they know. They know. As the old saying goes: curiosity killed the cat. Who's to say attempts haven't already been made? These kids were in for a real treat.
The night they decided to leave, they all got up to go to the restroom. Keeping as quiet as they could, they climbed out the tall window with the help of Guardian and then pulled him out. Outside now, they ran low to the ground, keeping their heads down and trying to hide all outer extremities. They passed the school fence and hid in the forest beyond.
In Paradise, Silencer had been returned to the room with Eyes and Antlers, dropped to the floor mercilessly. When the two knelt beside her to shake her awake, they found her skin to be nearly ice cold and her eyes dilated. They quickly pulled her up and held her, trying to save their friend.
"TS-8420, you're up now," came the gruff voice outside. Brown eyes shot up and he shook his head, refusing. There was a soft, low sigh and a guard entered, yanking the boy up by his upper right arm. Silencer's head fell to the ground and Antlers quickly held her close, sniffling. The octopus-boy fought back and yelled, pounding his free fist against the guard's arm, but he was only pulled harder. He didn't give up, even after being restrained. He was just as problematic as Silencer, if not more.
Needles. Pain. Screams. The liquid inside looked different in each syringe and container.
Help was on the way, but it had to come fast. These kids could only take so much.
