Beyond the start of the underwater river lay an open lake type of area, with outcroppings big enough for 10 average sized people to sit on and even some trees. Though, these trees had oval shaped…things that gave of a soft pink glow, illuminating the area. They had trunks that only reached 7 ft at the most and were such a dark shade of brown they were nearly black; the leaves curved downward and were orange, yellow, and green in a flame effect.
"Kh'Zk," came a voice the kids couldn't recall. It was sort of nasally and bubbly, but not the social type of bubbly. Literal bubbles. Historia, Fox, Vines, and Jack went up for air, then dove back down. They received their own air bubbles just like what Silencer had.
"That's a very pretty name," this time it was Eyes, who was staring at the alien squid girl. "But why can you only say it underwater?"
Foreign words spewed from Kh'Zk's mouth, startling the kids. It was beautiful and also fierce; the beauty of French, but the ferocity of German, except that the language had none of the words from either of those languages. The kids couldn't understand any of it.
Then some more foreign words came, but they were broken. It was Eyes who spoke. Apparently he'd been an exception.
More words, a simple response, and then Kh'Zk was laughing, Eyes too.
"Since we can only say her name underwater, she's giving us permission to give her a nickname. Oh! And she also wants you guys to know that she's not too good with other beings as far as interacting goes. So…yeah," the triclops stated, rubbing the back of his neck.
There was a long period of silence, then Historia spoke up.
"I'm callin' her Bubbles because of these air bubbles she made and the fact her voice sounds bubbly underwater."
"Would Squid work too?" Vines asked, to which Kh'Zk nodded and smiled sheepishly.
Another string of that language.
"She's willing to stick with us if it means she gets to kill humans and make art."
"How do we know we can trust you?" It was the siren that spoke now.
"No kill you, only humans," her accent was thick, the words hardly even words.
"We'll keep an eye on you, then, just to be sure. Everything's been out to kill us so far, so we're just being safe," he informed her.
Squid nodded and then motioned to an underwater castle type home that was made out of what looked like marble, though it had crystals growing from it, so it had to be different.
"Home. Follow."
And so they did.
