A Moment of Peace

The two injured recently were told to lay back and relax, heal as much as they could. Eye's stomach was checked again and it hadn't gotten any worse, in fact, it seemed like it was getting better. That provided relief for all of them. Silencer stayed near Guardian, mostly because he had ordered her to, but also because she felt he was the only one to still have trust in her. After what she did, even she didn't trust herself.

Historia was pretty much in the middle, with the tall siren and the short girl nearby. Her wings were stretched out for the time being, with her trying to examine the bullet wound. It had singed some of the surrounding feathers and there was a clean cut hole; she said it didn't hurt a whole lot, but her expressions proved otherwise.

All of the wounds were taken care of and the bandages replaced with new ones when necessary. They were constantly cleaned and had some sort of protective covering over them. Infection was their biggest threat.

The forest went quiet for a moment, then came alive with the sounds of several species of birds, insects, even some wild animals that lived there. The sun shone through the trees casting beautiful rays of light on the forest floor. The wind was at a reasonable speed, giving them a break from the cold they'd endured during the nights.

"Its so calming," Vines said, smiling in a way that seemed to make the others brighten up.

"Yeah. For once, we can relax and enjoy Earth for what it is before..."

"Before we're captured and sent off," Fox finished for Historia, sighing softly. "Let's enjoy it while we can."

They all agreed with smiles. Despite everything, all the torture, the pain, the training, everything… they still smiled. They were only kids, all of them 10 years old. Every kid had to have some fun, right? This was their moment of peace. Their chance to have at least some kind of childhood before being thrown out of the nest to fly.

An hour and a half passed. They'd talked quietly, laughed, joked, even got up to play hide and seek at one point. Guardian seemed to be doing fine, and so did Eyes. Historia looked to be in the most pain now. Silencer whispered to Guardian and grinned. They'd come to a compromise which led to both if them scooting close to the harpy. Silencer held out a hand and gave her a gentle smile, harmless and innocent.

Slowly, she took it. The smaller girl's eyes seemed to almost light up while she stared at her, the smile faltering and soon her eyes shutting. She broke out into a sweat but kept her grip on Historia's hand. Her grip was strong but not painful. Her other hand slowly ventured towards the other's wing and she went to protest. The hand softly ran along the singed feathers and around the hole.

Some how… some way… Historia felt less pain. It wasn't healed, and nothing had happened. But something did happen. When she let go, Silencer gave her a weak smile before leaning into Guardian, her full weight put on him. She'd passed out.
